Description
For school, the topic was book cover. I chose Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.I was halfway through the first painting when the file got corrupted and everything was lost, somehow from that frustration I went turbo and redid this new one in about a day.
Anyway the format sorta works as a wallpaper too, so enjoy!

Oh my... probably your best digital work so far. And I appreciate this even more since I saw the movie for the first time today. Really beautiful, I wish books covers were all that beautiful, it would make people read more!

Okay dude. THis looks amazing. I love the textures. It's very Asian-inspired, even in the patterns choseen, so that's great. I like the thought. My only concern is the cranes. Those would only work depending on the size of the book spine. If it were thin, they'd be lost. But, having read Geisha, I'm pretty sure it's enough. Love the red - it incurs a lot of stuff I would associate with the book. This is a very nice change from the mininmalist work that was used to advertise the movie.
You should add a detail shot of her face.

This really should be a book cover, I'd buy it
The differenct colors of red make the piece so interesting and gives it a good foreign feel. The details in the flowers and birds are so great and beautiful. And the geisha with her face expression definatly makes the whole picture interesting and worth looking at for a very long time. I have to say this is one of your best digital paintings ^^(in my opinion).

Oooh, this is lovely! Actually, 'lovely' doesn't do this justice. The details of the flowers and flower patterns is exsquisite.
Is that red that's dripping on the right side done digitally or did you scan some watercolors on paper? The effect is wonderful either way.

Gorgeous! You know they say never judge a book by its cover, but when I shop I tend to make decisions based on the cover art. If that was the cover of Memoirs of a Geisha, I hardcore would have bought it!

Wow, this is good! What did you use to make this? Is it all CG or is any of it done by hand? Also, if you could, it would be cool if you made a tutorial about how to make the paint effects in the pic.

Oh wow! I love that just splash of colour first off. All that red really captures the eye and draws you right in. Great details on both the Geisha and the background too... It makes her both blend in and stand out... if that makes any sense. It's a very nice effect and I absolutely love it.
