Little personal fan artEven though I do feel like I've out grown the Warriors series (I started reading them when I was 11) I still wanted to make a tribute picture dedicated to my most favourite character in the series: Leafpool.
This is a scene of her sneaking out of the camp to go see Crowfeather, her love, at the border in a secret meeting. I know, there's many errors in the picture, but this is how I imagined her - golden brown with a hint of ginger, with green eyes like leaves instead of amber. They were my most favourite couple, even though their relationship was 'foolish' to begin wish and caused them a lot of pain and controversy in the future. I felt so sorry for Leafpool in that time, and she was a character I connected with the most.
Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys the picture! I started over a week ago, and worked on it day by day, little by little. These kinds of pictures take a lot of patience and hard work for all the detail... I really want to have a rough /painterly/ style, but I'm a perfectionist and end up detailing everything in sight!

It's been years that I've grown out of the Warrior's series as well, but coming across this fanart made me realize how much I loved this character. She was my favourite too. Such excellent art too, the eyes are beautiful.Β

It's comforting to see that not everyone hates Leafpool. I've always felt a special connection to Leafpool; for reasons of simply knowing what it's like to be the oldest and out-casted. I don't really understand why people get mad at her for being with Crowfeather, as really, people should be disappointed at Crowfeather. I mean, I love him and all, but I'm just so frustrated with him! I understand the Feathertail situation, and falling in love with Leafpool, but Nightcloud? It seems like he found a random she-cat, and became her mate just to fit back in with his clan. Β
I really feel sorry for Leafpool, as there is no guaranteeΒ she can be with Crowfeather in Starclan. After all, Feathertail will probably latch back onto him, and Nightcloud might try to also take up some of his time. She just can't win. So, she'll really be all alone. Watching from the sidelines. I don't think she really deserves it, and I hate that she is a medicine cat. Honestly, it doesn't really suit her personality.
I just wish Leafpool had a chance to shine. Β

heh i've read whn leafpool escaped to see crowfeather and then ran away from the clans to be with him forever but it turns out forever is just like a day and a half i never new that.

Haha, I think I remember reading that as well! It was a really exciting part of the story! I was sort of sad when she returned, she seemed so happy with Crowfeather, but I guess her heart was more of a medicine cat! And they are lovely characters as well! The most I loved was mainly Leafpool & Tigerheart! xx

Haha, I think it's in the Omen of the Stars of the Warriors! That's when Tigerheart is introduced, but he's is coupled with another cat, not Leafpool! xx I don't want to spoil it for you hehe!

I still love the Warriors series, though it takes a long time for me to get a hold of the books because I have to wait until my library gets them. But then, I'm only 13, so I haven't grown out of them yet.
Leafpool is one of my favorite characters as well, and I really love how you portrayed her here. I thought Leafpool's story was really sad. You know, how in the end, she had kits but had to give them up to her sister.

I feel the same way about the series, read it when I was 11-12. And I've certainly outgrown it. But I still enjoy the characters. I imagined Leafpool a lot like this - green eyes (because well duh, leaves are green after all) and reddish brown, but with a bit of white splashed on. Anyways, great picture. Love the overall soft glow that seems to suggest twilight or dawn, at a time where they won't be seen. Good work.
