Description Six weeks old today mummy,
a birthday present for me,
A pair of big blue eyes,
through one i day i will see.

Where are we going mummy,
with the rain splashing down,
when it hits the pavement,
it makes a funny sound.

Bang! through the white doors,
people dressed in green,
if they try to hurt you mummy,
just run away and scream.

Help me mummy,
their tearing me apart,
there goes my big blue eyes,
there goes my little heart.

I love you mummy,
really i do,
but the worst thing is, mummy,
i thought you loved me too!!!

What if the baby is a girl?
Does she have a right to her own body?

If she is not alive, why is she growing?
If she is not alive, why would she have to killed?
If she is not a human being, what kind of being is she?

Oh, stop fucking appealing to emotion to make abortion seem wrong. They can't feel it because, guess what, THEY AREN'T CONSCIOUS.

By that logic, it’s okay to kill a person in their sleep because they are, not conscious.

How do you know that? Can you remember when you became conscious for the first time? Was it before or after you began to kick in the womb? The truth is we lack the technology to know exactly when a fetus stops being a bunch of cells and becomes an individual human being. Even if we could somehow discover a way to achieve that, it still wouldn't do us any good; babies learn to interact and communicate with the rest of the world by observing other people and copying them. So a child in the womb with a fully conscious and functioning brain's thoughts would be incomprehensible to us, because they lack the words and knowledge to even think thoughts as simple as "this is hot" or "I am sad"; in their mind such things only manifest as physical and/or emotional sensations. Long story short, we can't and most likely never will be able to distinguish if a child in the womb is conscious or not.

Very sad, true, but I must point out that aborted 'babies' are just fetuses... they have no brains.

Then how do they have brainwaves at around six weeks old? Yes, clearly brainless. Sources:

Otterlore In reply to passingships [2016-04-06 14:58:08 +0000 UTC]

1. Prolifeaction.org is clearly biased, and has no sources.
2. Wikipedia is a terrible website, did you go to school, ever? The brain starts developing at around 6 weeks, that doesn't mean it's a functional brain, or anything like what you think of a brain as. It's not a mind, it's not even a nervous system yet.
As these point out, this isn't an 'end all be all' of the abortion debate, just a questionable fact that can be placed in the evidence for either side. After all, if you can pull the plug on a coma patient for not having brainwaves, can you do the same for a fetus? More importantly, if the coma patient has a functioning brain stem- as fetuses do, since they barely have a nervous system, more or less having a brain stem- can you pull the plug? Nobody's come back from being brain dead (even if the brain stem is functioning), but legally right now you cannot.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. My insomnia has been acting up and I needed a nap earlier. Anyway, to continue our debate.

I've already read both your sources while I was researching the sources I would use. Would YOU pull the plug on a brain dead relative? The difference is that a brain dead person is basically dead, while a fetus is developing. I myself am still developing yet nobody questions my right to live, nor do they question a mute person's existence. Because a mute person is out of the womb, they immediately gain the right to exist, (as well they should.) Yet while a baby's inside it's mother, she had the right to decide whether to terminate or not. They don't care that the baby can't speak or defend itself.

And according to doctors, those fetuses dream, as you do. I'm bringing this up to tie to the evidence that a fetus's brain allows it to do quite human things, such as subconsciously memorizing someone's voice. Here, check these out:

Yes, many of them are actually. People still terminate their pregnancy during the the second trimester as well as the third in some cases. They also will kill a child if something called a "botched abortion" happens- even after it's been born and it's breathing on its own. Botched abortion's just a sugarcoated word that truthfully means infanticide.

you should study the anatomical process of fetal development before you make blind statements.
keep in mind babies in the U.S. can legally be aborted as late as 21-24 weeks as you do your study.

Otterlore In reply to Discowhale [2013-05-16 12:13:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh my god... I'm really not interested in going into this. And I have no 'study', it was a statement.
(I disagree with abortions after 15 weeks anyways)
88% of abortions take place in the first 8 weeks; 2% take place over 21 weeks.
By week 8 the brain is growing, but there's no nervous system; at that point it's function is barely a brain, it's used to control heartbeats.
I'd go into eyes but I'm not really interested anymore this is a really boring conversation good-bye
once again
I have no 'study'

My mom loved my brother soo much...but she had an abortion because her husband would sell her to the workhouse if she didn't have an abortion. I'm just lucky I was born in america...from a good father...and a lucky life.

A lot of times my mom said to me that she loved my brother and hated herself for killing him. Please don't say that mothers don't care for their children, she did it so she wouldn't die (my brother would have died as well) it's not true.

umm, when they do an abortion do they cut.. up.. the baby? or some people say they burn it..
i am very against abortion. maybe i can understand if it was rape, but you could give that baby up to adoption. you dont have to kill it in... horrible ways.

StudioNyx In reply to XxSuGaRpAnDaxX [2016-02-05 03:57:55 +0000 UTC]

they don't burn the fetus, or cut it up. They take a suction and suck it out. The tissues can be donated to people who need them or helping other children etc . You can even bring it home and bury it yourself.

also not everyone kills a child based on " i m going to murder one today." my son had no heartbeat, so instead of miscarrying, i had an abortion.

Taggerung12 In reply to XxSuGaRpAnDaxX [2010-02-23 00:42:16 +0000 UTC]

I have that frame of mind as well. Apparently, there are many types of abortions. There's one where they stick a needle through the baby's soft spot in the skull and suck the brains out... *shivers* It's completely inhumaine. Gross. Sick. Call it what you will, but I'm gonna call it MURDER.
