Description
smolcat posted this poll and I couldn't resist so here we are with a lot of AbsolsCan you tell I like absols yet
More info on each type:
Malevolence:
- Originally bred to be strong battlers.
- Highly sought after but notoriously aggressive and difficult to train. A pokemon you need to earn the trust of before it listens to you. If it decides you are worthy, it will even sacrifice itself for you.
- Many in illegal fighting rings seek this variety of absol for it's natural aggression and attempt to terrify this pokemon into following their demands. However, with their disaster sensing abilities, and strict worthiness requirements, these absol usually attempt to escape and/or viciously fight back against their captors, not caring if they themselves or their captors get killed. This has caused the popularity of this variety of absol in illegal rings to plummet.
- This variety relies on speed and a surprising amount of sheer strength to win its battles. Although somewhat intuitive, they don't really need to rely on smarts to win battles and such usually never thinks out battle plans.
- Not very loyal to their trainers. If they find another trainer they deem more worthy than their current one, they will often try to go with them instead.
- Usually a solitary pokemon or a pokemon that works in pairs. You will almost never find "packs" of this absol variant and these pokemon have no concept of hierarchies.
- I imagine the absol from this creepy pasta is this variant of absol.
Guardian:
- Guardian absol were originally bred to be guides to mountain travelers.
- Their calm and protective demeanor, with their disaster sensing abilities, later lead to them being used as service pokemon.
- Although calm, these pokemon still aren't very easy to train and need a lot of patience and love to be trained.
- These pokemon aren't natural battlers, but can still be trained to battle and can battle just as well as any other absol with proper training.
- Very protective of and very loyal to whoever they are assigned to protect. They will throw themselves into danger to protect their charge at the cost of their own lives.
- This variant generally moves slower than other variants. However, they can quickly accelerate to surprise enemies if necessary.
- It's not unheard of this variant assimilating into packs of other pokemon, however a group of these variants will not form a pack with a hierarchy naturally. This variant prefers small groups of 5 or so individuals, but can be happy with much smaller ones if given a charge. They don't actively dislike larger groups but can be easily overwhelmed in them.
- Frostfoot is of this variant.
King of the Mountain:
- These pokemon are very illusive, living deep in the mountains where few venture. Some people even doubt their existence.
- This variant is gigantic compared to normal absol. Normal absol are roughly 4 feet tall, and this variant can grow up to anywhere from 10 to 20 feet tall.
- It is rumored that only male pokemon of this variant exist. It has yet to be debunked.
- This variant of absol are descended from absol that were chased away to mountains and became apex predator and revered by local pokemon over time for their disaster sensing abilities.
- They are very protective of the pokemon on the mountain they live on and suspicious of outsiders.
- These pokemon are commonly hunted for their gorgeous pelts and powerful battling capabilities. However, those who decide to hunt them almost never manage to reach this pokemon since the mountain's pokemon actively attack those who get too close to their king. Those who somehow manage to reach the pokemon usually can't land any attacks on the pokemon, as a natural predisposition to strength in bloodlines and a hardened life in the mountains renders them extremely powerful. They also have very accurate disaster sensing abilities.
- It takes a lot to catch this pokemon. The only record of a trainer managing to catch this variant involved the trainer living on the mountain for years, helping out the local pokemon. The absol took another few months to observe the trainer before finally presenting itself to trainer. The trainer then had to battle it. Then, and only then, did this variant allow itself to be caught. The male absol was nearly 20 ft. tall.
- This absol variant can adapt to a pack of any size as long as it is at the top of the hierarchy. It can also do just fine alone. It will often be extremely protective of and loyal to the other pokemon in the pack, refusing to let anyone it doesn't deem worthy enough to get close.
Ravager Absol:
- Ravager absol were descended from wild absol that hid in the cities while other absol were chased to the mountains.
- This variety of absol is much smaller than regular absol, only reaching 1-2 feet at full size.
- This absol variant is very aggressive towards other pokemon and people. Take caution in approaching one.
- This variant lives almost exclusively in species and is considered a pest. It often snatches meals of other pokemon and sometimes from humans. It will eat scraps from your trash and it will not feel sorry for it.
- These pokemon are difficult to train, aggressive, reclusive, naturally weak when battling, and has weaker disaster sensing abilities than other absol, making it a rather unwanted variety of absol.
- These pokemon are commonly used as bait in illegal fighting rings, their weakness, small size, and natural aggressiveness make them easy and enticing opponents to stronger fighters.
- Almost exclusively solitary, only coming together to breed. Young often leave their mothers at only 3 months of age. Works terribly in packs. This variety has concept of proper hierarchy, only "I am the greatest" and every absol will attempt to make themselves leader if forced into a group. Works really badly with other pokemon.
