Description

Thoughts: Yet more practice of W.D. Gaster, of Undertale. In this case, a thematic vice of his. It's intended to vary - a pipe for more thoughtful moments, and in more serious, stressing times, cigarettes.

My style continues to shift, which is unsurprising. More than that, the set of ideas and plot I have in mind is also evolving... As is my tendency, there are two things that captivate me: fascination, and the unknown. Now, just to make things happen...

Gaster, above work documents: "There needs to be an answer"
Gaster, with cigarette: "I'm listening"

Some added humor, a little doodle in the bottom corner I decided to leave in. "...Why is the coffee always gone?" (Actually reads: "None left" )

Materials: Sketchbook paper and a simple mechanical pencil.

You draw Gaster remarkably well! I'm impressed!

I admit, it's been rather a journey, and things continue to evolve - from the more expressive earlier works, and to the more embodied seriousness of the comic ideas... But, all in all, I have enjoyed what it has been, and all of what Gaster has had to teach (so to say, with the copious reading I've taken up in regard to him).

It's so cool to me how interested and passionate you are about this one particular character, I love it when people do that and are actually productive and serious about it (rather than, like, creepy-fangirl-y, if you know what I mean). You keep right on trucking, buddy!

Thank you. I am glad you see things as such.

To be honest, it has beenΒ  my goal to take as detailed a look at Gaster as possible, and to exact what I feel is a proper, respectful (and respectable) perspective on him.... I do this for it's own sake, and for all of the topics which I might otherwise mildly research or see in a new light because of it.
But also because I have only so rarely seen that same depth or angle taken.

Thus... It is rather a sense of purpose. If one can learn and see anew due to a figure's existence, one can also honor that, in kind. And in sharing, perhaps other fans will appreciate Gaster better.

A quixotic view, perhaps. But a part of my creative process regardless. I am simply glad that fans like yourself enjoy things along the way. It's certainly been it's own artistic trail of efforts, and will continue to be as I wind my way into digital works.

This is a cool interpretation of Gaster, I like it! I also like the sketchy style; I've always loved just... simple sketches I guess.

Greetings.

Thank you. It's developmental work, but just as important for me to get past my realist habits and into something more illustrated, if possible. But, I'd still need there to be a fair gravity of expression to Gaster.

I have almost a full plot and idea set, but I'll need to wade through a variety of other difficulties and designs. In the meantime, plenty of Gaster artwork may be forthcoming, with what time I have. Sketches of this kind ought to be quite important in development. I hope you enjoy what I have time to contribute, slow as that is.

Well, it's good art, and good art takes time so hey x3 And that's really cool, good luck with your designs and ideas!

I'll need it! But again, that's the whole point of it all.
If fellow fans like it, all the better. Then it becomes a journey I can share. Moreover, if they like any of the perspectives, that's an added bonus.

Oh for sure! It's always fun to share art or something and then come back to it years later and see what progress you've made. It's also fun to let other people see that 'journey', as you said. So keep on going! ^^
