What do you mean why? After what he did? He betrayed Gaara's trust and if it wasn't for that Gaara probably wouldn't have turned into the kind of person he did before meeting Naruto. How latest? I've read up to book 40 something, so I'm pretty up into the Shippuden part. I think the last part I read was when Shikamaru, Choji, and Ino go to avenge Asuma's death and kill Hidan and Kakuzu. What more about Gaara's past can be explained??
