Description Interpretations of legendary creepypasta Slender man, the favourite horror story on the internet that people still believe in!

Slenderman is often though of as a paranormal being who snatches people away if he is witnessed, so if you see him, you have to pretend not to see or somehow erase your memory if you hope to live. He is characterised as a tall and slender figure with limited or no facial features and many arms or tentacle like appendages.

I like the idea of a slenderman that not only murders, but actually does damage to society as a whole by puppeteering important individuals like politicians, this is why I associate slenderman to webs and strings as well. The cruel thing, is if he were to puppet people, noone could do anything about it, thus putting more pressure on the situation where if you DO spot him, you SHOULD report to authorities, but would you at the cost of your own life?

Gimmefeedback: You can comment on anything that comes to mind, but what do you think about the design of slenderman (in relation to what internet draws him as) and the colour usage? anything that looks off in anything? what could make it better?

I think it would be better to walk away and pretend you didn't see.

Your concept and portrayal of Slenderman is a very interesting one! And the drawing itself gives ridiculously creepy vibes off. I really think you did very well capturing his essence in it.

There is no "canon" on slenderman seeing as it is an internet myth created collectively over time, the rapist angle is unimaginative in my opinion, its kind of the "default" villanry at this time. Movies and entertainment media seems to frame their worst badguys with rape as the prime offense but it gets a bit cliche after a while and in slendermans case makes little sense to me. If it is inhuman or supernatural, it seems unlikely to me that it would be motivated to do so unless it was a demonic creation for the sole purpose of creating horror for individuals. I personally think the "control the world thorugh puppetry" slenderman is much more frightening, hurting entire society and not just individuals.

This is horrific perfection. The neck is really creative in that it gives me the most unnerving feeling that no matter where I am or have been, he's been watching me every step of the way without moving from that one spot. The feet really reinforce that idea, because it seems as if he's rooted in place.

Good, because a blanket would probably not fool slenderman. Though I am not too sure how great a vision it posess.

This is probably the most creative and original version of Slenderman I've ever seen, the design is really well done. The color scheme is great and really helps set the mood. I really like how you've added feathers/leafs floating around with a certain transparency.
Really quite fond of the neck and face, the twisting flesh is both well drawn and disturbing. I think you made the right choice in having the face have a certain blur quality to it. Overall, this is a great piece.

But the picture is gorgeous! Amazing use of different textures and shading!
It's one of my favorite slenderman pieces I've seen so far.

Great! Now i'm not gonna sleep for a week...
Stuff like this actually makes me terrified but i could'nt help myself from looking at this and it's look awesome I have never read about the slender man but he at least looks like someone i would'nt wanna meet! He really fits your description at least.

The picture itself looks great too. It's only the feet i keep looking at. I don't know if i like them or think somethings off with them. The threads going straight down looks a little wierd. It's hard to put in words but they don't look the same as the other threads

Except for that i like the overall picture and like the style ^^ The colours really gets the right mood and the face looks like something taken directly taken from some of my worst nightmares!

Great job!

Arrgh, Slenderman...he's certainly the stuff of my nightmares.

In your version, he's much more visible than usually, but still slightly blurred, as if there's something that prevents us from focusing on him, I like that. The twisted neck and the scarecrow eyes are a nice, creepy detail, as are the spiderweb hands.

The muted colours look great and give the piece a feel of autumn, everything hidden in a thick fog, very fitting for Slenderman. The only nitpick I have would be the ball on top of the wall: it has the same texture as the streetlight and that makes it looks a bit off to me...but that is really only a nitpick.

Overall, a very creepy version of Slenderman. It gives me the feeling that any second now he will either disappear or will be standing right in front of me, ready to do whatever Slenderman does to his victims. Here's to another night of seeing him from the corner of my eyes

Love how blurry his face is, makes him look stranger and creepier than he is already.
Only thing t hat bothers me is the street lamp which needs to be more refined, but I guess you're not finished with the picture yet?
The feathers are a wonderful addition, too. While they are in motion, the rest of the picture looks as if it was frozen. I love it!

It is finished in the sense that I don't feel like working on it further and the deadline for the uni brief is also gone. I might do a remake or alternative interpretation of slenderman in the future, who knows, I tend to get bored of things quicker than I can polish it up though. Maybe fix. maybe. It was a great learning experience though.

(Sorry; same message with icon)...

I have to say I'd never heard of Slenderman until just now, but this picture is quite striking. The quick internet research I did seems to depict a kind of vague but chilling figure that might stem from subconscious, primal fears, but your picture almost gives it (him?) a character. The figure looks like it's listening to something, almost like it might speak. At the same time, the feathers suggest motion while the figure is eerily still. The atmosphere is very appropriate, sort of a Tim-Burtonish feel. I wonder if the lamp light might be too close to the figure's head, or too large and round? Lamp and head are roughly the same shape and texture, and the one could possibly draw the eye's focus away from the other. The same could go for the lamp post: too similarly thin and straight next to the figure?

Perhaps a higher contrast lighting might help distinguish the figure more from the background, too. Maybe a little more hazy moonlight in the gloom beyond, enough to brighten the scenery (at least the darker parts, like the stone ball and pedestal) but solidify the figure itself?

(I hope at least some of this is helpful.)

I don't know about slenderman or previous drawings of him, so this is a pretty fresh look.

I'm not too sure how I feel about the design. The porcupine like upturned spikes may be more suited for a hunching figure. Think of a skinny hunch back. The word slender put me in mind of agility and fluidity, while your slenderman looks very upright and somewhat stiff, with the exception of his shoulders that has anice swing to them. I'm not sure which figure you would rather aim for, a rigid doll like figure, or a more gestured body?

The neck is also merging more with the chin part of the jaw rather than the base of the skull. Part reason is the placement of the head, and mostly it's the very narrow cranium, more like a narrow ellipse than a circle. Again I don't know if that's what you were aiming for

One of the things that strike me is how fairly well lit the scene is, and I think it detracts from the spookiness of it. I think if you places the slenderman so that only a bit of him benefited from the light of the lamp, like the light is just giving us a peek of him, it could be more effective.

Two ways of doing this is moving the lantern, or moving the slenderman either closer to us in foreground or further into the background. Further away into the mist would give a lingering creepy feel, while having him close into the viewers space would make it immediate. I think you would perhaps prefer the subtle one, so more off into the background would be best. A particular way would be to the have the foreground dark, then light from the lantern, then dark again. With the slenderman peeking out of that darkness, or walking halfway between light and dark.

If you choose to fiddle with position of things I think you should look up on composition a bit while you're at it to better place things. As it is, the lightest place with the face which serves as focus, is too high up on the image. The visual path around the image feels blocked. I'm not sure if I can explain it very well, but there seems like there is very little going on in the center of the image. This can be used to ones advantage at times, but here there are things in the space, while it still feels empty.

These composition tuts may be helpful [link] [link] [link]

If it was me I think I would expand the image a bit, have some larger mostly silhouette like foliage in the foreground, trim back the trees and bushes between the slenderman and the right to open it up a bit, while adding more darkness and shadows until the lightest parts of the image is from the lamp and the spot on the ground it illuminates.

As for the colours they are the typical spooky palette, but I think introducing at least one colour that isn't as murky could add some spark to the image. It doesn't have to be too big, just present.

My last note would be on the wispy leaf stuff in the air. They are a good element I think to add depth to the image, but considering they are closer to us than the slenderman, their very rough and unfinished look seems off. Give them some love and definition in form, perhaps make them bigger and pace them out more, and they will probably serve you image very nicely

I hope this proved useful to you
