When I was watching the episode where Mion enjoys watching Rika killing herself, I liked how she was laughing, so I decided to draw it ^^.Mion Sonozaki (C) Hiugrashi no Naku Koro Ni

haven't gotten that far in Higurashi but now i'm looking forward to it, i've seen the screenshot you re-drew with amazing accuracy many times and now i can't wait to see it in context.

Higurashi sure is an awesome/interesting anime series to watch. finish watching it as soon as you can. yeah, I'm really happy and impressed myself when I was done drawing this, it's one of my favorites ^^.

i'm going at my usual episode a week pace, sometimes two if i feel like it. and i agree it is a great series, i now reference it a lot. all my post titles are done in the format of Higurashi episode titles

Hahaha..."Shmion." Well, I didn't exactly finish it all in a day, I had other things. I worked on it for like 4 or 5 different days. And in those 4 or 5 days, I dedicated like a little over 2 hours each day. Yeah, it may seem a lot or slow. But that is how I work.

Nice, I sometimes work very fast, but sometimes i do it very slow. I need motivation to draw. My second request from new series [link] was done in 3 days. Don't know how much time I spend, but it was a little long (I changed pose of Rika 3 times xD).

Yup, this is like some of my other works. When I don't feel like coloring my art, I use pencils to color in the different shades. And just like my colored drawings, I like to have the lines clean and almost straight, plus the shading to be just right.

Well...when I do shading I use a set of graphite pencils that come in 4 different ranges (meant only for art drawing), that can be bought in any arts and craft store, such as Michaels' or any similar store. I try to use them all as much as I can and when they are appropriate. Always remembering to use them as softly and moving slowly as you can for the lightest, to normal hard and kind of fast or however you want to get really dark. I think I've said everything, but if you have more questions I'll be happy to help. And the part of not having mistakes,nah, I think I do have some.

But one more question: How do you keep your coloring so smooth?

Yeah, yeah they are HB pencils!!
My coloring so smooth? Do you mean the different shades? Well, try to use 3 to 4 different shadings in your drawing, making sure one doesn't look like the other one. Maybe you won't get it the first time, but the more shading drawings you make the sooner you'll get the hang of it.
Or perhaps you meant not getting the paper and drawing ugly and dirty when you asked how I color so smooth? To avoid getting the paper or the whole thing from getting dirty and looking hideous, try using a paper on top of the drawing (below your hand) where your hand is doing the shading. Place the hand near the edge of the paper close tothe drawing. This prevents your hand from getting dirty and leaving smudges on the paper. But also be careful when you do this, don't press hard on the paper and slide it other wise youll end up doing what the hand does.

Good, now your ready. I also did that, with the ones I use now. Before i wasn't using them, but after I took a drawing class in college, just for a really easy A grade ^^, I knew about their importance and decided to always use them instead of a regular everyday number 2 writing pencil.
