What if the other strong monster is another Wicked Avatar? Does the attack boost only apply to the opponent card's original attack? Either circumstance, what if magic cards powered up the opponent prior to the Avatar's appearance?

No, I mean would a 1800-ATK monster give The Wicked Avatar 1900 ATK if the former had a Equip Spell Card that gave it a 500 ATK bonus?
