Setsuna Kai and Cool the Cerberus from Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children: Black Book.

Part 5/12 of my SMT tribute project.

And now for something completely different >D
These guys don't really look like your standard SMT chara material, now do they? Looks more like something from Pokemon/Digimon, doesn't it? >3
This might be because the Devil Children sub-series are far from standard SMT games, and was less of an RPG with demons, and more like a pure monster breeder, obviously with a somewhat Pokemonish/Digimonish feel. Hell, it even came in different version (the first two were Red Book and Black Book)
Though still the game did keep a certain SMTish feel about it as well, for one, yeah, you get to "capture" various demons as companions and all, but you also get your own goddamn gun (called a "Devil Riser") to shoot them critters and help your team out, and also, no matter how much you achieve, a few unlucky events/choices could lead you to lose all you've worked so hard to gain, so it's much more demanding than your standard Pokemon game >3 plus, it is still darker and more demonic, like a proper SMT (pentagrams everywhere and all that).
Also worth noting was that while it had those Pokemonish "sister versions", they differed far more than any Pokemon set, though connected by the same world and setting, they were basically different games with different protagonists with their own unique stories (not to mention such trivial matters as version specific demons).

Hence with so many protagonists in the series (there are 8 different ones, plus some compilations), I had a few to choose from for this, but hell, Setsuna ha sa friggin' Cerberus demon as a partner, and hardly anything could beat that >D

Also worth mentioning is that the Devil Children sub-series got themselves an anime adaptation, called Shin megami tensei: DeviChilwell, as expected from such a title, which was a lot easier to capture in an anime than the Persona series (which while not too shabby wasn't all that great either...).
