Description
Thanks for the DD!My mom went to pick up some neglected horses to take them to their new homes. When she arrived, this little orange kitten ran up to the truck to greet her. The entire time she was there, he would follow her around and every chance he got, he would try to get in the truck or the trailer. Eventually the owner of the property asked if she wanted to take him home. She reluctantly agreed. This poor little thing was absolutely COVERED in fleas. He was hungry and had some sort of eye infection. Here he's all wet because we gave him a bath to help with the fleas. Since he was too young to use your regular flea control, we ended up picking the stunned fleas off of him by hand xD
As it turned out, there were 3 more litters of kittens where he came from. One of the owners had been putting the kittens in a crate and leaving them in the woods to die to take care of the "cat problem." My mom and her friend were able to organize a rescue and we got all of the kittens out of there. So far, they've all found new homes (including Savvy's sister Lyra, who we decided to keep as well) except for 2 of the smaller kittens. If it wasn't for Savvy insisting to go home with my mom, then all of those kittens probably would have died. Go Savvy!
As a side note, since this picture was taken Savvy has been dewormed and the rescue we were working with gave us a tube of flea/tick control for kittens. His eye infection has also cleared up. He's the biggest, fattest, most mischievous kitten out of the whole bunch. If anyone lives in the South Carolina area and is interested in adopting the last 2 kittens, let me know! One is a muted calico who was born with a deformed ear. She is VERY thin, but oh so playful. The other is a sweet little brown tabby with white paws. She loves to be cuddled. The remaining 2 along with Savvy and Lyra are having the time of their lives in our barn! We transformed one of our empty stalls into a kitty play room and they loveeee to irritate my adult cats when we let them have the run of the place.
Update: All kittens have found homes!

Cute kitten!
He knew your mum would help him. He chose her.
Well done to your mum! ^_^
Oh. And the best thing for kittens and pregnant/lactating cats for getting rid of fleas and worms is.......
Garlic capsules!! Give them to the kittens (gets them used to pills later in life) and the Queen and it kills the parasites. Works wonders! Then, when they are older, use the stuff from the vets.

Reminds me of when I got my little bombay kitten. He was about 5 months old, and these women were selling these kittens out in front of a local supermarket. One of my cats had recently died of a venomous spider bite, and the whole family was reeling from the loss of him. We saw these kittens, called my dad and he said yes, get one. We got the only little boy in the litter. What we had thought was a shelter that was accepting donations of food and money turned out to be a scam. All the kittens had fleas and worms, and the supermarket got a LOT of complaints about it, so they paid all the kittens' vet bills.
Now Valoran is a very talkative and clingy little bratty cat. He beats up our dog, who is twice his size. XD
So happy you saved those kittens' lives. <3

That is one of the most sweetest and tender little stories that I have seen. People like you should be given a medal!!! Not many people would do what you and your mom did. Lilly, my cat looked a lot like that when I first got her but she is healthy as ever and FAT lol Animals are what make this world beautiful so thank you so much for your contribution^^

Aw, leaving them to die like that was awfull rude of that owner xD; but I guess it's hard to chose how to get rid of them. Either way, I'm glad you saved them all! And it's so good they have found some homes. It's usually very hard to do that. Congrats on the DD

aww so cute ^.^
aww reminds me of when i rescued a kitten from a bush outside my flat. she hadn't even opened her eyes yet so we had to feed her with a pipette and keep her warm with a hot water bottle. because she had no mum we had to wash her in the sink to keep her clean, it was so cute when she was damp and looking annoyed ^^

You and your mom are rare, exceptional people. Thank you on behalf of all those kittens and bless you for your kind hearts!
Is there anything that can be done about the breeding ones? Otherwise this will only continue. The jerk owner needs to take responsibility and get them fixed, instead of sacrificing the babies.

Thank you! And the owner's daughter-in-law tried to convince her to get the cats fixed, but she's refused so far. Apparently she sees it as a waste of money.

What an idiot! In some larger cities, like Kansas City, there are Humane Societies or other organizations that will allow pet owners to get their pets spayed and neuters at a significant discount, and even free, some times of the year, along with shots. We went through PAWS to get our female spayed and it was much cheaper.
That owner just sounds irresponsible and immature, to spout that off as a justification. Shouldn't own pets. You should, though. You're great.

He looks just like my Kurt, he was the same way when we found him, we got him off 2 little kids who said they were bringing him to a field so he can die. he was so sick and so dehydrated he could hardly lift his head, but he purred all the way home, he knew he was going to be alright when he lulled his head into my husbands arms. we still have him after 3 years. I love this photo, and I am so happy you saved those kittens, you deserve more than a DD!
