I can't help but try to think of a back story for this. Mama looks concerned for her boy and Baby bird looks sad. What if Papa bird was on a trip and had promised Baby bird that he would be home for his birthday but when Baby bird's birthday comes Papa hasn't come home yet. Mama trys to keep baby bird's spirits up but it doesn't work and she can't help but worry about her little bird. When it's time for baby bird to go to sleep he's deeply saddened that Papa wasn't able to make it. Then Papa bird shows up and explains why he's late but Baby bird doesn't care and is just happy that his Papa was able to make it home after all.

But very creative! I like it!
The story behind this is actually that the mom bird is making a cake, but doesnt cook it all the way, so when they cut the cake open, the bugs are still alive and crawl away! I has always imagined that she was a single mom (which is why I didnt put the dad in any of the drawing/photos behind them) But I can see him just being an 'absent' dad instead ;__; So sad!
