The market wasn't as busy has normal that day. A blue-and-gold Bub-chi was sifting through the fruit at a stand, wondering which to choose. Her wings were folded neatly against her back, however, her halo still floated majestically above her head. It had yet to be noticed, but she was quite comfortable with this. As she opened her moth to ask a question, the stall vendor turned around and perked up. The vendor stared into space for a moment before shaking her head and snapping back to reality. "Yes, how may I help you?" She quickly looked up at where the vendor had before she looked back down at the produce.
"Yes, I'm looking for something not too sweet, but not sour. Which one would you recommend?" She said sweetly. The vendor considered for a moment, scanning the baskets with her gaze.
"That one would probably best suit your needs." she said, pointing her finger at a basket to the left. "Say, what's your name?" The winged 'Chi gathering several of the fruits onto the counter brought her bubble close as she shuffled through the odds and ends inside, before pulling out several libbles and floating them towards the vendor.
"I'm Noelia. Why do you ask?" The vendor took the libbles into her own bubble.
"You seemed familiar. You look like some of the legends of 'The Chosen One' I've heard. Y'know, radiant eyes, halo, all that." Noelia chuckled as she swept the items from the counter into her bubble. Her wings shuffled with the fluttering as well, causing a feather to fall to the ground. A passerby noticed the feather, and turned to the one who dropped it.
"Whoa, your wings!" The random 'Chi exclaimed. "They're so cool!" You could practically see their pupils forming a heart as their cartoonishly enthusiastic excitement showed on their face. Soon, a whole crowd had gathered around Noelia, who was flustered and definitely not ready for all of this attention. She had just come out to get some fruit, who knew her wings would attract so much attention in just a few short minutes? She'd had some passersby talk to her about it before, but not at this scale.
"Can I get your autograph?"
"What's your halo made of?"
"Can we see your bubble?"
"Can you fly with your wings?" Dozens of voices all shouting over one another as though they were fighting gladiators. The vendor had been overwhelmed, sprinting out of the stall and hiding behind the thin cloth tarp separating the stall from the other side. After several minutes of Noelia trying to shoo everyone away, a crystal ear poked up from the crowd. It parted like the Red Sea as a cursed child, wrought with crystals and flora, made their way towards the flustered blessed.
"She's with me." A voice rang out among the now-silent crowd, belonging to the 'Chi walking towards her. "I came to pick her up." Grateful, yet mildly disturbed, Noelia followed them out of the crowd. Nobody followed them. It was a far different scene that just a couple minutes ago. Once they were far enough away, the 'Chi began to speak. "I'm sorry if I embarrassed you. You seemed like you were having a bit of a hard time and..." They looked up at her smiling, one eye covered by a massive flower. Despite the obvious deformities, they looked quite innocent and cute. "... I just wanted to help out! I really hope you don't mind." They nodded before taking off in one direction, their leaves bouncing up and down as they ran.
Noelia watched until the 'Chi disappeared down the road, not but a speck among the others.
