Description
I huffed out a loud sigh as my butt landed on a nearby tree stump. My dog snuffled and waggled to my seat, his face nuzzled in my ear making me giggle. The wind picked up leaves and whooshed them into my direction, I smiled at the greeting. Then without another hesitation, I pulled my bag off of my shoulders and plopped it between my legs. Unzipping it, opening, and pulling out my supplies surprisingly fast, I settled into my creative home. A sketchpad balanced on my lap and a charcoal pencil perched between my index and middle finger. I jump started into the project but something stopped me, and I willingly voiced it to the empty sky.

"What the hell am I drawing?" Frank, my black and white pit bull looked up from his paws, head cocking at my sudden words. His tongue lolled out before he lazily placed his bead between his paws. I groaned, propping my elbows up and setting my face on outstretched palms. The wind laughed, leaves fluttered into my hair and skidded on the sketchpad. "Hell, I take a twenty minute walk here and I don't even know what to do." I muttered, clenching and unclenching my hands in the cold. Glancing around the trees and leaves, I spotted a rabbit nibbling on, I think, a strand of grass. Slowly, silently, I grabbed my phone from my back pocket. Opening the camera app, I zoomed in on the brown creature. When it finally focuses, I snap. The picture went black then opened back up. I took a few more, then for fun I shot one of Frank. The dog quirked an ear and wagged his long tail, I laughed softly and scratched behind his ears. After, I glanced back up at the rabbit, it had crept closer. It's black eyes watching with a cryptic glare. The tiny nose twitched, mouth flipping up to expose sharp incisors in it's pink mouth. I narrowed my eyes, heart thudding in anticipation. Then looked down at my sketch pad. I retrieved my pencil from my pocket and began blind sketching. Simply locking eyes with the rodent now a few steps in front of me, without looking at my paper. Frank yelped suddenly. I jumped and set down my pencil to look at him. A gasp left my throat. Two bleeding bite marks on Frank's tail were visible. The dog scurried behind me, I looked at his previous spot. A second rabbit was gnawing on some of Frank's white fur. Breathing became hard as I looked my surroundings again. Four more rabbits had appeared, one next to the original brown. I stood up quickly, reattaching Frank's leash, and started to walk but a nip at my calf made me squeal in shock. A grey rabbit had it's two sharp teeth on the stretchy part of my jeans, suddenly it reared back and a flesh sounded bite was heard. I screamed. Blood dribbled down onto the freshly leaved path. Another bite, to my opposite thigh. I couldn't help it, my body fell to the ground. I writhed in pain as the rabbits snarled and charged towards me. Fear was palpitating throughout my body, racing in my mind like track stars running from a cheetah. Pain seared in my legs, I was beginning to feel numb from the waist and down.

"Help!" I gasped. my hands scratched at the soft ground, trying to escape the rodents but one appeared and bit my finger right through. I screeched in the pain, tears were dripping down my cheeks. I watched the second half of my left index finger disappear into the rabbit's white mouth. The blood stood out on it's white fur. I heard yelps and howls of pain erupting from Frank but I was too helpless to move and get him. I watched as the rabbits continued to flood in the clearing. Blood leaked from my body, seeping into my clothes and staining the ground. My head grew dizzy and heavy. Sleep was growing on my eyelids, so I welcomed it.
