Day 31 of Inktober 2023. Today is Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2

Considering today would be Halloween on a normal year, I had to finish it off with an iconic creature from video game horror.

I like Silent Hill, well I like Silent Hill 1,2 and 3 and I think Shattered Memories has a really cool core idea for a soft reboot. Homecoming has one interesting idea in the boss fight against Scarlet but is otherwise a complete mess of a game and I still think that Downpour is the biggest waste of a fantastic idea for a Silent Hill game there will ever be. I know very little about the others.

Pyramid Head is a great, simple design. He’s instantly recognisable having one of the most distinctive silhouettes in gaming and the rest of the franchise has completely failed to match his aesthetic. He looks like him even in the shittiest of low-poly models. The only monster that has come close in my opinion are the Twin Victims from 4 which are definitely creepy but don’t reach PH’s menace. I understand why they keep using him. I WISH THEY’D STOP. Pyramid Head works in Silent Hill 2 and every repeated use has been hollow, empty fan-service. It’s bad, it dilutes the brand, they need to stop doing it but I know they won’t.
