simply stunning. what body do you use for most of you peices? do you buy a paricular brand or do you make you own? same question for you glazes.

opps...I made I reply but I didn't reply to the parent...

This is it:

The stoneware was mostly a mix I mixed up myself. For my porcelain pieces, I am hooked on a blend called Helios made by Highwater Clays in Asheville, NC.

I make my own glazes. Actually, most of the pieces in my gallery, including this one, are only glazed with a light coating of clear glaze. The color comes from either slips/engobes or underglaze/stains I make with oxides and/or mason stains.

This piece looks incredible on the sweep! hehe. I like the combination of natural with synthetic. As the synthetic mimics nature. Perhaps synthetic is not the best word for the porcelain... but I'm sure you know what I mean.

My only critical comment would be that the top of the rootball gets lost a little in the darkness of the top of the sweep. A little more contrast up there would help define the rootball. But still a very nice image. That brown glaze at the bottom middle is really beautiful. Fits the piece spectacularly.
