Distraction?I have been working on this for TOO. DAMN. LOOOOONG...
I experimented with light sourcing, shading styles, and siple clouds in this pic, but I need more practice with all three.
ANY AND ALL CRITIQUE/ADVICE/TUTORIAL LINKS will be GREATLY appreciated!

You forgot textures here |D If you tried to make any, like in the tree trunk for example, it's just wasting your time, cuz' you won't like the results, believe me
Your anatomies are getting good, but if you mainly wanted to practice on the background, Including characters will serve you a pretty big distraction and probably mess with your background actually
You don't need much help with the shading, but you kinda forgot the ground shadow on Salo there, If you want to make a drop shadow or something like that, it's extremely easy, select your outlines with the magic wand tool, inverse the selection, flip the selection down (Like a mirror effect) and then fill it with black on a new layer and play with the opacity... I think, this might be easier to understand with a tutorial .w.
On the sky, you can use a light blue gradient to get that good... sky... feeling /shot
On the clouds... meh, look at what I did [link] and then you can notice there's no possible way to make perfect clouds without brushes |D
Back to the shading, you might want to use a different brush on the ground from the tree shadow and on the tree itself... you can mess with some random strokes like you did on the ground but with "U" shape... idk .w.
AND Finally, on the humor... I don't get it naw, just keddeng |D It's funny how Lunar's expression is... why is his tongue popping out? ._. /soshot ... TAIL TREE HUG /shotyetagain
