How could you be together that long and NOT know her name, Gaster!? lol.
Okay, so I know this is pretty much fixed now, but it used to be quite common for me to confess to Gaster BEFORE I could even tell him my name. Originally, I think you had to wait 12 hours or so for the name event to appear, but all it took was about 30 headpats to confess to him. I even went so far as to see if it was possible to tell him your name before you could get the option to confess to him. I did it, but you pretty much have to let him sit there and not do anything to him (assuming you're going for the pacifist route).
Anyway, here's to a now irrelevant joke! XD

It's been almost a year by now since I had reached that phase with the ghost, but I'm pretty sure I also confessed to him before I told him my name. Thing is, I thought that was normal. XD

When I first got him, I didn't realize there was a whole huge set of menus for him (because I was a derp who didn't read instructions). So all I did was pet him until I got the option to confess. Later I found out about the whole menu shindig, and was completely surprised by how he was reacting. I may have had a few hundred pats in by that point. It took me some time to figure out what I did. lolz.
