Description
this is a large file and may take a while to load.it tells how to
1. Scan lineart and get it ready to color
2. Draw lineart with a tablet
3. Draw lineart if you dont have a tablet
The first of the "how to use photoshop" tutorials that were requested by my neopets guild These are 3 ways to do lineart and so anyone who has photoshop should be able to do at least one of them. I didnt put much on drawing with a tablet because it mainly requires practice.
there is a lot on there so hopefully i didnt forget anything or leave out a something important. Please let me know if something doesnt work/doesnt make sense! and Please excuse any grammer mistakes/typos i am a horrible proof reader.
Photoshop version used - CS2
The next tutorial will have "usefull Photoshop tricks"
Hope that you find this helpful!

Is the doing-by-hand part supposed to take a lot of time to do? ; I have CS2 also and can't seem to bend the lines so it forces me to click more when making line art with the pen tool. The tablet looks like it doesn't take much time to do.. other than that this tutorial was helpful ^^ Though I do wish it wasn't so time consuming lol...

LunarMaddness In reply to RiokaChan [2007-11-01 00:11:24 +0000 UTC]
It does take a while to draw something using the pen tool. hmmm you use the points to bend the lines. You should have two curve adjuster bars on each point. If you dont then use the convert point tool to change it to a curve. It takes a while to get used to using the pen tool but it can do some nice things once you get used to it. Yeah it is easier with a tablet

hehe thank you ^^ That will help lots... I probably wont be getting a tablet anytime soon because I just got a $200 scanner from my dad lol. Plus haven't edited any of my pictures I have drawn yet.. Just learning to do line art and coloring ... though I need to pick up the pace in learning with a contest ending soon and I need to enter =x Again, thank you soooo much hehe <3 ~RIO

Well, this tutorial has helped me find out what is wrong with my drawings. xD
I do my lineart too light. Hm. It comes up as light blurrs, and I was annoyed, but now I just need to pen in either slower or darker. Poor pens.
This tutorial was AMAZINGLY helpful. I haven't been posting things because I can't color under my scans. xD Hugs for j00!

LunarMaddness In reply to CloakedVampiress [2007-06-26 05:54:56 +0000 UTC]
it might not be your lineart benig to light because i drew that in pencil so it is pretty light, lighter then anything done in ink. What may be your problem if it is scanning in really light is the scanner program. Often they have an auto fix thing that ends up getting rid of lighter lines. You can use the "import" option from the file menue in photoshop to scan directly to phptoshop and avoid any scanner software "fixes" and then use the steps i have in the tutorial to fix the scan there. Or you can turn off your scan softwares auto fix if you can figure out how
glad it was helpful!!! yay for being able to post art again!

CloakedVampiress In reply to LunarMaddness [2007-07-07 06:05:58 +0000 UTC]
Ah, well, you see, I already import directly into Photoshop. O-o And the fixes are non-existant. I just use a .01 mm pen to ink in my drawings, so I'm pretty sure it's my light inking. A .01 mm pen quickly whisked across a page does not make a dark line in any shape or form, so it's always my hair lines, blush, and wrinkles that are too light.
OOO: I'm really lazy, though. I still haven't posted. I'm too busy RPGing. >->;;;
