Description
No refs or short cuts used. I'm sure I'm going to have some withdrawal symptons with not having it to work on anymore. The story behind this ... it kind of arose out of me trying to see if I could draw the same figure again and again from different poses ... well, to cut it short, I ended up liking the figure I was drawing and ideas developed ... this guy (nicknamed Trent) came into creation because of it.
The basic tale of this moment is in the print description but I'd rather you conjure up your own thoughts as to the story because I think, there are many ways of looking at it. Anyway, enjoy my friends! Comments always welcome.

Technology has taken over the world lol - This is how I perceive this amazing piece ...Man has managed to create all this new state-of-the-art-technology , so advanced that machines & computers are ready to rule the planet and wipe out the human race. Trent is a victim of this as your picture depicts my insane theory lol - the coloured wires/electrical cables also comes across like a den of snakes eating away at his flesh - Trent`s cry for help is in vain. Your drawing clearly show the expression of a desperate man fighting for his life - the more he fights the worse it gets as the wires take over. Basically , we created the micro chip , evolved it to what it is now , man is no longer needed for his services - machines are equipped to think for themselves as Trent soon found out lol ............ Lunar this is an exceptional piece , the detail is amazing - so much going on in this picture that you can look at it for hours - A pleasure

Thank you very much. I like your take on it. I certainly envisaged that technology became a power all of itself in this one and was kind of fighting free of it's form. Thanks again Stroody ... I really appreciate the in-depth opinion.

The detail in the wires and figure is so overwhelming! I looked at the close-ups and was amazed just by the work put into his fingers; withdrawal symptoms, indeed! x) I love the little sparks of electricity reaching out to him from the wires and the disturbing look of fear on his face. It makes me think of how detrimental society's dependence on technology can be. And when I came back to comment I found that you'd received a DD, so congrats! (I've been waiting for you to get one for the longest time! X3)

Aww thanks, that means a lot. ^^ I was quite surprised to receive the DD but very happy too. I did put a lot of work into this, so I'm glad that other people have an appreciation of it other than just me, hehe. I like the meaning you get from it. I think that it's very fitting.

It took a long time just because of the fact that I had to keep going away from it for a breather. I was working on it inbetween other work ... I don't think I would want to guess at the actual time.
Thank you very much!

Hmm, it's got to be your turn next, hasn't it?

Three friends of mine told me that they had suggested me three times for a DD, one for the "eye of predator", one for the "counting stars" and one for the "eye candy" but all of them where rejected! It's just not my lucky period i guess!
Anyway! Whatever happens i am happy that i found some people here on dA who like what i am doing and show it to me in notes/messages. All the rest is just typical!

I love the disturbing feeling coming from this piece. Like his face expression and how his body is inter tween with the wires.
Wonderful job here!

After getting a DD you're probably gonna get a ton of comments, but I have to add my two cents into this.
I love the picture. I love the details, and how it (to me) looks realistic and cartoony and painful at the same time. o_o
It also reminds me of the book I had to read for school over the summer: Brave New World. I'm not sure how, exactly, but... I guess your title "Conversion" plus all the wires (which make me think of a machine or science)
Basically, in case you haven't read it, it's about a "utopia" where machines do everything, and knowledge is only given when needed. It was written around the time when Ford automobiles started getting mass produced, hence the machine theme of the book. Even children are produced to certain specifications on a production line, instead of born. It's seriously messed up... But your picture makes me think of it. Like that's what happens in Iceland (spoiler?) when you're kicked out of the utopia or something.
o.o; so yeah

Yes thank you. I have got a lot of comments and as you can see ... I'm only just getting around to them. I think you described the look of this painting, and my style very well. It's a combination of both.
I haven't read that book though I have heard of it ... it is on my radar now. Sounds like an intense storyline. Thank you for your comment and fav!

I really like the colors you picked for all the wires. Really reminds me of computer parts I've worked with, especially all that gray makes the technological aspect so confusing and distancing. The whiteness of the teeth is a little distracting & it's a shame you have to put your watermark on the art. This will surely generate much "wow" for a long time

Nice...reminds me of Ghost in the Shell, where human society has technology integrated in every facet of it's culture and some humans become uncapable of dealing with that much information and technology, as a result they become uncapable of retaining own identity and free will. (The Matrix = diverted of Ghost in the Shell btw)

I think the title is very fitting. And OMG, did you really drew and painted ALL those wires and cables? My... I'm getting a brain-lock only to think about how many layers did you use in this picture. XD Can you expose this little bit of random curiosity to us? How many layers did you use in this one?

lunarsparks In reply to rafaelszpo [2007-09-17 20:52:27 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for the comment. I kept my layers down to a minimum when it was possible. The key was trying not to be too precious about them. I think I had about 10 layers most of the time, at a guess.
