i hate it when animals are stuffed. i would rather see the real thing in the wild, not something so lifeless! when something dies, you shouldnt stuff it. it just seems so cruel and unfair, even if they are dead!

I'd just like to have a calm civil conversation about this, so please don't flame me. Just putting my opinion out here...
I agree that I prefer to see a LIVE animal over a dead one. Animals are gorgeous, amazing, and taxidermy can never quite restore them to their former beauty. However, once an animal dies naturally, of course, what do you think is unfair about them being stuffed to preserve that beauty before the corpse rots?
I disagree with killing animals for pleasure or purely for pelts/trophees (unless you find yourself in Siberia for some reason and it's for survival, lol). But as long as the animal dies naturally like it normally would in the wild, I don't see anything wrong with taking the already dead animal and trying to preserve them through taxidermy.
For example, I found a cute little sparrow on a nature walk one day (oh, how I love sparrows... ), but it was dead. No wounds, no signs of trauma, just dead. I took it home, skinned it, and made a soft mount. The sparrow is now sitting on my bookshelf, and I love him very much. I didn't kill him. I just didn't want his beauty to rot away, so I preserved him. I'm just wondering what exactly you think is wrong with this?
Sorry, I wrote a lot. Basically I just wanted you to elaborate a little on your points so I can understand your opinion a little better. I don't mean to offend you in any way, I'm just curious.

well, we both have our different opinions. i guess if the animal died naturally its ok... but most animals in museums have been shot and killed. though it was a while ago when people allowed it, i still think animals shouldnt be stuffed. then again, thats just my opinion, and i understand yours.

Agreed, and thanks for respecting my opinion as I do yours. That makes sense if the animal was shot just to be stuffed; that's completely wrong. But I think you'll be happy to know that now a lot of museums have their taxidermied animals from zoos where the animal died the way they should. Slowly things are getting better.

I'm just curious on your opinion so please don't flame me.
These wolves are already dead; it's taxidermy, the art of preserving an animal's skin for the afterlife (aka, stuffing it so the fur doesn't rot and get ruined). Do you think that taxidermy is bad if the animal was already dead when you found it? Just curious. There are animals we wouldn't know about if no one preserved them...

Hmm, maybe in some peoples' opinions. I don't think it's really a bad thing; personally I like to bury the corpses after I skin them, but I see where your argument is coming from.

They are real; it's a taxidermy piece. Taxidermy, by definition, is the art of preserving an animal's skin for the afterlife. These wolves were probably already dead, so somebody took the fur and stuffed it. Basically it's the art of making sure an animal's beauty doesn't rot away with the rest of the corpse.
Please don't flame me, I was just explaining it to you. Also, do you think that taxidermy is a bad thing? Just curious.

They are taxidermied wolves (they're dead and someone took the fur and stuffed it so it doesn't rot, basically), and the fur was put into this position using a frame underneath. They're not alive, don't worry. They only look scared because of the angle and the way the eyes were painted.
I'm just curious, but do you think taxidermy is a bad thing? Even if the animal was already dead when you found it? There are animals we wouldn't know about if no one preserved them...

They might have already been dead when the bodies were found, so someone took the fur and stuffed it so it doesn't rot. Animals are beautiful, and I always prefer to see them ALIVE, but I'm curious about what you think is wrong with taxidermy exactly. The animal felt no pain. And there are some animals we wouldn't know about if no one preserved them. Dinosaurs are another example; is it wrong to put dinosaurs on display too?

They were probably from like a Zoo or enclosure and naturally died. Most museums do that now since some rule from 2005 or something that prevented wolf hunting for museums but then again it's still legal and dosent make a difference :/ poor things.
