They are actually more related to mongooses than cat, but either way, this is an amazing shot, love the perspective! I love fossas! My zoo may be getting them soon. Is excited!

yes I forgot what they are called in english though. in german they are called "Schleichkatzen" which means "crawling cats" or something like that.

yes thats the name of the species. but species are in a group. and those are the "Schleichkatzen".
Like a lion is a lion but is in the group of "big cats". and a mallard would be in the group "waterfowl".

Ohh I see what you mean. In that case, I don't think there is an English name...I'd just use the Latinized family group name (Eupleurids). Maybe mongoose family is close enough.
