Al Pacino done for a friend. From a picture she found on the net. Acrylics again, still getting the hang of them. I wasn't very happy with the shape of the face on this one. Also too heavy on the blacks and whites, making it look kind of cartoony? Not sure how to say what's wrong with it, but something is off.Related content

Great portrait, love it! I think the only things that don't appear to blend well are his eyebrows, the positions of the eyes, and the brim of the hat. The skin tones and colors are fantastic, as the neutrals provide a raw, earthy tone of realism to a person typecast as a gritty Italian gangster for his looks. Lighting is mostly perfect, providing texture differences on the hat, skin, and clothing; however, just below his nose could do with a bit more shading, as it currently appears slightly flat. Lastly, the hat is slightly distracting because it forms such a perfect line. This seems to be the only cartoon-like aspect of the piece in my opinion.
I really love the final product especially how you dealt so ably with skin and clothing color and shading on both. Great work, keep it up! I'd love to see more.

Agreed, I think your right on the sharp line in the hat, that bugged me a bit but was in the pic I was going from. Under the nose was a nightmare lol I guess that shows.

Well, for being a nightmare, the nose looks pretty bloody good. Well, I think the canted line simply interrupts motion and the path my eyes want to take. That could arguably say something about the character upon further analysis, but to the immediate eye and average viewer, it may only serve as an immediate albeit subtle and unrecognizable distracting factor.
