Description So my partner and I did a photo shoot last week out on a trail at Catherine Creek in Washington, just across the river. Part of it was to get some shots of me doing longsword guards in a really nice location (yay, new camera!), but I also wanted to showcase the wolf fur cloak that I'm wearing in the shots (and that just ended up listed on Etsy with a LOT more information: [link] )

The sword is a Tinker Pearce hand and a half, which is what I use for cutting drills. Most of the guards in these shots are from genuine medieval swordplay; I’m primarily trained in the German style, but the basic guards are fairly universal. This photo doesn't show a genuine guard; it's more "look epic for the camera!" About the only time the flat of your blade might be parallel to your face is in the middle of an odd cut, and certainly not like this. You want to use the flat of the blade to parry, and the edge to cut and wind, generally speaking.

Yes, you may use this photo as reference, IF you let me know ahead of time, GIVE me credit, and SHOW me what you did once your project's done so I can be all appreciative

Holy mother... if only I had six hundred dollars. Would you consider making a similar piece out of something less expensive than wolf, say, coyote?

Sure! It would take more pelts, but since all I need are back hides the materials cost would be less.

Cool beans, I may have to commission one if you find the time and I find a job.
Or maybe I could get lucky, find my dream job and buy this one. Either way... fur cloak, it has to happen.

I do have the time, so whenever you have the income, we can make it happen

Sounds good to me. You do payment plans as well, correct? I'd be willing to work something out for a custom order.

Sounds good. If you had to rough estimate the cost of an item like this made of coyote, about how much could we assume it'd go for?

Hmmm. I'm guessing one about this size would probably take somewhere between 4 and 6 decent-sized coyote hides. It would, however, require more stitching since there are more hides, so probably total cost would end up being somewhere in the $300-$400 range for the same general dimensions.

Makes sense. Thank you! I'll keep you posted when I'm ready to order for real.

*excitement shriek* I'm first going to be That Guy and say how much this reminds me of Skyrim, and secondly, I love Great Northern warriors, huzzah!

Hee--thank you! I was thinking more Stark than Skyrim, but that works too
