Yay! It's finally done. The background was torturing me for weeks, but at least it looks better than expected. Both characters were fun to draw and render.Hope you like the outcome, RestrainedRaptor !

I really like the tribal theme here with the body paint and adornments. Outstanding anatomy too - the perfect balance between human and animal features and the skillful execution of it are constant battles of mine. (I personally like my anthros quite heavily on the human side.) Wicked skill overall. Instant like, Luphin.

Watching this pic - those primitive, native-like yet obviously intelligent and sentient raptors - makes me think: imagine such raptors living in the same era that primal humans lived in. What chances would we have? Would raptors hunt us, like every other animals? Would we be forced into extinction by them or survive somehow? If so, would we just coexist or would they wage tribal wars on us and eventually enslave us? And which species would grow smart and establish civilization faster - us or them?
As much as I wish things like that were real, there is always some anxiety about it.

Ich weis nicht ob man die Quastenflosser nennt. Ich habe lediglich bei google "prehistoric fish" eingegeben und dieser sprang mir sofort ins Auge.

The picture is gorgeous, but too damn dark. Why bother drawing raptors full of details if you cannot see too much of those details in this shadow?

In my opinion the shadows that 'hide' these awesome designed creatures help including
them in the whole picture without beeing too much and actually hiding them behind some objects.
Plus it's mysterious and more exciting to look at ^^

Well Luphin, I knew you were a great artist when I first found your DD, but I think you've surpassed yourself with this one. ^..^
When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was unusually dark, but in full view, the ambient darkness of the forest with the occasional spots of light really helps with the immersion... Literally, in the case of the underwater fish view! You've really done these two raptors proud in my humble opinion. I'll make sure I keep you in mind whenever I come up with plans for future scenes I want to commission. Thank you so much! I hope you agree the torture was worth it. Be sure to take care of yourself.

This sure was the most complex drawing so far and I'm happy it turned out well.
I was thinking the same about the darkness during the process. With natural light and reflected light the piece looked better and better every hour. That's what I ment in the note when I said that the amount details can make a big difference.
Torture is a very exaggerated word for it.

Heh actually, yes...sometimes I do wonder if I could even call myself an artist.
It happens when I fail miserably to draw a particular pose or a canine paw for that matter.

We are our own biggest critic all the time. It's hard to make that inner critic shut up for a second, but you just got to be proud of what you are capable of sometime. You even have a very unique style, man. 
I wouldn't bit on something I don't want. The time during the bidding ended I just wasn't there to increase my highest bit.

Hmm...sometimes I do think of art as a chore.
That time I make it a point to take a break.
Especially when I work on commissions, I get very badly
designed characters to draw and that exhausts me completely.
But I never imagined I developed a unique style. heh thanks, I guess.
