it's my party and I'll be covered in flies if I wannnnnt to.....You do not know how excited I am about "exposed brains/blood in hair" working as a flower in her hair and "slit throat" functioning as necklace. These are the things that keeps a zombie loving girl warm on those long lonely nights. ~_^
I am especially pleased with her incredibly grody toes. A bit of self-portraiture there, perhaps. >;D
And while it is supposed to be humorous, I still feel a pang of sorrow for her. I want to fix her broken heel and wipe the flies out of her eyes. Sorry Zombie girl, there is nothing to be done for you now. *goes off to get shotgun*

p.s. I want to mention I was inspired by loish , who is infinitely more talented than me, and just does incredible stuff. She isn't particularly into the macabre, but it was other elements of her style that got me feeling like experimenting this evening.

Ah, the eternal question! Here's a shortish version:
In the past year, I saw several movies around the same time that I absolutely LOVED, despite thinking I would hate them: 28 days later, Resident Evil, and the remake of Dawn of the Dead. They are just SO much fun, and even though I'm sacreligious for not liking the old zombie flicks better, they are like my trinity of zombie movie favorites! ^_^
Then, I really like cutesy/anime/fluffy fantasy stuff, but there is only so much I can take. After a while it becomes so generic. It is much easier to create something beautiful than skillfully render something ugly or disgusting (I mean something actually ugly, not just poorly drawn). I am especially interested in the juxtaposition of cute and pretty over old and decayed, but again, so many people have drawn their gothy lolitas, zombies seemed a bit more fresh.
And gosh it, I just like them! I don't know, I feel sorry for them, feel sorry for the characters in stories that have to face them, and sorry for a world where zombies exist. This is the part I don't have as good of an explanation for.
