Description
Will scrap this later. But...I always wanted to do one of these 'what stuff I use' kind of things like you see floating around in other people's galleries. Oh yes, i would jump off a bridge if everyone else did. Um..ANYWAYZ.
Pic 1! Paper
1: I just got this paper recently, and it's verrry nice. Pencils go on it smooth, it erases smooth like buttah and inking on it is sooo smooth, and markers work great on it. In summary, it's smooth.
2. Vellum Bristol. What I usually use. It's very versistal (sp?). Marker, watercolor, pastel, all that works on it cuz it's thick n' durable.
3. my crummy old clipboard, it's got marker stains all over it and is broken on the top. I need a new one XD It's my 'workstation'.
4. Watercolor paper. I don't use it that much. I also have some pastel paper that I got recently.
Pic 2! Inking and finishing stuff
1. White gel pens, for highlighting n' stuff
2. Mechnical pencil, for drawing
3. fine and thick colored sharpies for doing colored outlines
4. Zig Millenium pens for inking. In sizes 01, 05 and 08. They're greeeeat. Waterproof and don't smudge n' stuff. Good show.
5. Microns, pretty much the same as the millenium pens. I like the millenium better though, they seem to roll over the paper smoother. Colored microns/zigs are good for outlining eyes. Then the color of the eye really pops. (yay)
6. staedtler mars plastic eraser. I love this kind, it works good.
7. staedtler graphic 3000 duo pen. This pen is neat; it has a brush-like tip on one end. it's fun to draw with, though it dosen't seem to be waterproof :/
8. don't use this much; just a silver sharpie
9. prismacolor clear blender. I use this with colored pencils sometimes. Just recently started using it with markers after reading a tutorial on marker coloring. dosen't get much use though.
10. gold prismacolor pen. Also don't use this much...it's cool though XD
Pic 3! Markers!
I use markers the most for coloring. Cuz they're fun!
1. Various markers. Crayolas and a few different random brands. I have 2 copics but they're too expensive for me to buy more.
2. Chartpak AD markers. I like these alot. They blend pretty good and make a unique effect. They SMELL BAD though. You get used to the smell though heh. They bleed a bit, but you get used to that too. XD
3. Prismacolor markers. Yeah, the good ole prismas. Prismas and Chartpaks are my friends. XD
Pic 4! Watercolors
Yeah, pretty self explanatory
Pic 5! Stuff I don't use much XD
1. chalk pastels. They're fun, but messy, and sometimes I just end up ruining a pic when I use them XD
3. colored pencils. I used to color solely with colored pencils, but then markers and/or watercolors took over.
Stuff not shown: Computer for digital coloring XD (Corel Photopaint 10)
digital camera for taking pics for pose references.
And those are my tools, baby.
WHEEEE WASN'T THAT FUN AND INTERESTING?

The basic coloring method with watercolor pencils is to color with the pencils first, just like a regular colored pencil. Then take a brush and some water and just brush over the pencils. They'll smear around and become watery and you can blend them and stuff. XD
There's many methods of coloring, and my ways aren't the only one or the best by far. The main thing to do is to experiment! Just play around and don't worry about things look neat and perfect.

I dunno if I'll make a tutorial. Too lazy
I find solid watercolors to be easier than watercolor pencil, actually O>O But that could just be me. I just think its easier to spread around. Watercolor paper is good but vellum bristol works just as good too (and it doesn't have the texture of watercolor paper. But again, it's about personal taste.)
You sound like you have a good range of pen sizes Just switch them around when you outline stuff. Bigger pen size for thicker lines and smaller ones for thinner... it also looks better when the lines aren't all the same size.Unless that's what you want, of course!
My advice for markers is to start from light to dark. That way you don't get really dark shadows to begin with.

Well, what sort of coloring (or whatnot) are you looking to do? Do you prefer markers or watercolors, or maybe colored pencils?

Yayyyyyyy, I'm not the only one who thinks Copics are overrated! Whoooo hooooooooo!
We had to use those in Grade 9.....and they were both expensive and so.....ughhhhh. I couldn't get used to em'..two of my friends really got addicted to them though.
LOL, I use the same eraser, (that kind can get out almost anything, even pencil crayons!! O_O) Sharpies and Microns are always fun to. ^^

So question: When you say you use white gel pens for highlighting, do you mean that you use it to give shine in your character's hair and things like that?

Yep ^^ Though they don't always work very well.

I have a secret love for art supplies. I've found that the Sakura micron pens tend to bleed a lot easier making the whole ink job look like a mess. It's probably just me... ><

Oh, God, I know what you mean XD Whenever I go to Pearl Art Supplies (the closest art store near me, but yet sooo expensive) to get some stuff, I always, ALWAYS have to resist the urge to splurge all the money I brought with me XD This submission really got my attention too. I enjoyed reading the descriptions for all the supplies ^^

I like it when people post pics of their art supplies, though it tends to make me want to buy more for myself!
