At times, they pretend to not care about anything at all as a coping mechanism. They usually cannot tell when they are pushing someone to their limit but they end up feeling quite badly about what they did wrong. They believe strongly in a robin hood - like state of mind, acting with their own set of morals and disregarding society's, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor in a way. Overall they always mean well, even when everything is going downhill.

[ Backstory ]: Jay never attempted to fit in. Since childhood they knew they were a little odd, but didn't really see any purpose in telling anyone. At age eight they were left with their older brother after their parents died, and he was barely around. To survive, they turned to stealing food and other necessary items. Once they realized that they had a talent for pickpocketing and stealing, they decided to set their sights higher. One day they managed to steal a valuable watch from a touring man and ended up getting caught, but it was too late to discourage them from crime. By age thirteen they had practically robbed from everyone in Ghulport, was shouted at by everyone, and gained a reputation for being a complete jerk. They ended up befriending Andrew when they tried to rob him and ended up giving him their loot after learning he was in the same situation. They grew older, getting jobs and losing them quickly when they figured out who they were. This was fine with them, since they were happy with an action filled lifestyle.

Once they were older they joined a gang of robbers for a few months and started to think about those differences that had always been there. They became close to the gang members and quietly confessed their strange feelings for males and females and that feeling that they just didn't fit in a socially accepted gender category. They were shocked when their group was not happy for them but disgusted and angry. The gang moved on without them, causing them to force those feelings down and away. Jay didn't think of it again.

One day, confronted by official looking people, they believed that it was the end of their life of crime and gave in, willingly coming with them.

He couldn't help but grin at his friend's untouchable happiness. That was probably his favorite thing about Milo, also he was good at getting the girls to take a chill pill. They weren't the best at getting his jokes so he considered them uptight. "It's not super easy," Edge admitted, "but it's a lot better than my job at the mill, if you catch my drift. I'm lucky the man saw any potential in me." Apparently people liked husky puppies a lot, because once he was tested for pure genes he couldn't get a moment of peace.

A grin lit his face up like a christmas tree. Edge had no problem with talking about... Subjects like that. "Okay, I promise," he laughed, smirking wildly. He had always felt a little proud of his pure genes, but once he tried to joke about the mixed breeds with Lupine, who he thought was pure husky, he realized how stupid it was. The clobbering of his ears probably helped move the process along. "We could pull some pranks," Edge mused. "The ducks are out again. They deserve to get chased, for all that annoying quacking they do." The ducks might as well have been mute for all the quacking they did, but in the young, wild male's eyes, that was a major fault as well.
