Finally! My first animation on DeviantART
"To go beyond" was my final year project in university, it was my second piece of 2D animation that I actually complete.
It is just a very simple story set in a corner of the world about the affection between two individuals. Lives fade, lives continue, live to go beyond.
The whole piece was done in Photoshop and Imageready mainly, and edited in After Effect.
And for the music..
The background music is composed and copyrighted by me.

It was a 8 months course named as "Final Year Project". First two months was mostly for concept and story building, and we have a presentation every 2 weeks on our research or production progress. And for the time I actually go down to production.. hmm 5 months maybe, since I have few other courses to complete before I graduate XD

Haha.. I did have a hard time keeping the animation in a consistent style .. coz I didn't colour the frames with cell shading, which is easier to control to overall quality comparing to my "normal 2D art style" ..
Anyway I did my best and I think the outcome looks okay
The secret is painting all the frames of a shot on the same laaaaarge PS canvas..

This is such a sweet/touching little film about love between a parent and child. The drawings/paintings were soft and delicate which added to the theme of the animation/movie. I totally love it and you did a great job!

The most time-consuming part was the colouring, but at last I found that it's all worth it because this style helps to speak the story in another way. Thanks for watching my animation

love that warm feeling it has all the way, as the softness of lines, really create a nice atmosphere, together with the music.

The animation came first, but since there's no dialogue throughout the story, I decided to composed a music piece to help "telling" the story
