Well, February may be just starting it's last week and a half, but I couldn't resist this calendar wallpaper from the official Garfield website. And since February is the only time to put it up... better in the last couple weeks or so than some other time, which makes me look crazy.

Hey, look, it's Arlene! Garfield's girlfriend who takes no shit from him when he gets full of himself (which is a lot). Compare that to Penelope from the cartoon show, who was more passive, even dreamed of being a housewife to Garfield (until kittens came into the picture... neither one wanted that, lol). Now, Garfield is in no way an asshole abuser, but man, I think we can all agree Arlene is the better girl for him because she stands up for herself. They're equals in many ways, and besides, she was created first for the original comic strip anyway. Sorry, Penelope.

Anyway, even though their relationship was quite rocky in the comic strips a lot (I remember one where Garfield was just throwing gap-tooth jokes at her and she was just throwing fat-jokes back, then at the end they were like "Why are we fighting like children?" and made up... only to be saying the same things behind another's back). But I do also remember they were sweeter later on (like the Sunday strip from I can't remember when.. they actually have a good date and chase cars together and almost kiss... until Odie gets in the way and they both end up kissing Odie. :LOL. But we can only take word from merchandise like this (well, I think wallpapers count) how they are now.

Mr. Davis, plz to be putting Arlene back in the comix kthx.
