And now for something completely different: Garfield. This is from the new direct-to-video Garfield movie Garfield Gets Real. The cynical side of my brain is telling me this is going to be crap. But my optimism (and my inner child, who loves Garfield) want to see it badly. It's the first Garfield production actually penned by Jim Davis himself in years... perhaps to undo the damage done by the live-action movies. I did see a trailer... I hate CGI, and Frank Welker as Garfield... ick. No one can top Lorenzo Music. Bill Murray came close though. But still, I'm curious... we all know what curiosity did to the cat... oh, nevermind the cliches, I'm just glad to see Arlene. She hasn't been in the strip for years and on the otherwise flawless TV series, she was replaced by that ditz Penelope. I hate Penelope, she was too feminine. Arlene's the perfect match for Garfield because she's assertive and they play off each other well. Penelope just sobs "Oh, Garfield..." bleh.
Incidentally, there is no way in hell I have been able to find a Mork & Mindy wallpaper. Perhaps I'll have to make one.. you'd think with all the nostalgia freaks out there, there'd be some already. I've seen some general Robin Williams wallpapers... but they're all from his later stuff and really, who wants to turn on there computer and see that wrinkly face staring back at you?
Ahhh... and what about my other favorite show, The Electric Company? There are some at the official site... for everyone but Skip. No Fargo North? No Love of Chair? Can you believe this... well, anyway, I couldn't find what I wanted, so I put up Garfield. The end.

I actually liked the two live action movies. And you want to know something odd? Jon actually started seriously having a relationship with Liz after the movies came out.
Guess Jim Davis wanted his comic strip to have SOME connection to the movies, at least Jim Davis is not Robert Crumb!
No offense to Robert, but when your last name is Crumb, you're probably going to grow up to be a flake!
Enough said!

I'm a Garfield fan myself, and hadn't heard of this particular release. The unfortunate thing about it is that ever since the first live-action movie, I really haven't cared too much about what goes on with the franchise. But this is on my "Oh, what the hell" list, because generally speaking, the full animation releases based on Garfield have been pretty good.
