I haven't really been happy with my spherical drawings lately, so I used the almost level instead. I hope you don't mind. But I do love the idea, I may revisit it again.

and the button popping off is a nice touch as well. The only things is I think that the air sucking in lines are maybe a bit much. Now, that being said, I don't really have a better solution so I don't really know what else you could have done.
