Description
This is actually a few months old, I entered him in a cover contest for legends e-zine . One of the stipulations was that the art couldn't be posted anywhere online until after the contest was over and the winner announced at Botcon (or OTFCC for those who are picky
). Well, the contest ended and the winner was announced. And I'm pretty sure it was me. Or at least that's what I keep hearing. But yeah, I;m allowed to post him now so here's Jetfire in all his extremely tall and imposing glory.

I see that I'm not the only one who noticed that Jetfire resembled a VF-1S Valkyrie (Roy Fokker's variation) from the classic anime series Superdimension Fortress Macross, but with different colourisation and Autobot markings.

The angling on this alone caught my eye. And the amount of detail in the thing as a whole makes me sweat (I count ten craters in the moon alone, at least). Compound that with the awesome shading and how well the warm colors stand out so strongly against the cool of the background.

It's a very lovely repaint scheme for Super VF-1S "Skull 1" from Robotech (AKA Macross).

When I saw the thumb I actually thought it was the super jet from the original The Transformers. think his names was Skyfire

Skyfire was the cartoon version, Jetfire*shudder* was in the comics and toys.
We never got a Skyfire toy, well there was one in the Robots in Disguise line, but he was completely different

It is. But like you said, he looks just like the Robotech mechs. I just don't know which came first, Robotech or Transformers.

At a quick glance, I believe Macross came out in Japan in 1982 but didn't get ported to the states until 1985 right about when Transformers were making their first appearance. My guess: Two people on different sides of the world wanted to make robots that transformed.
Either way, we get two awesome franchises out of it.

He's Gorgeous! The colors are amazing and work so well with this piece, and I love the fact that he looks like the toy... I don't see much art like this at all with him...
