Description

One night I made 2 little books. I wanted them to have something in common with each other, to be somewhat linked. Yet I wanted them to be unique of each other. To link them together the first thing that came to mind was handwritten script. So I had some handwritten script printed and put on both covers. I gave them 2 slightly different colored covers to hint on the beginning of their diverging paths. And then to further link them together, I would give them a similar shape I thought. I decided on a couple of cascading necklaces. Sweet and feminine. The rest of the night saw me giving each of the 2 little books and their cascades different elements within their similar shapes, bringing out their unique characters. After 3 days of dissembling and putting together each unique element, 2 pieces of cascading necklaces were completed this morning. From afar, they look somewhat similar, but if you knew each of them better, you would find that they are both unique, they have their own characters, they have their own style, their own paths.

Just like my two little girls … although they come from the same 'vessel' so to speak, they are each their own person with their own little quirks and characteristics. One day, they will undoubtedly embark on different paths. My hope for them is to grow up into positive role models, to dare to dream and be whatever their hearts desire. And I shall be comforted by the thought that we had a hand in the beginnings of their making …

On the Left is 'Llara' (SOLD)

'Llara' is a little more romantic and a little more dreamy. She is made of copper and brass wires, various Agate and Jasper stones, an artisan ceramic bead, glass beads, stained lace, fiber, paper, clay, paint, resin, an old key, a brass wing and a piece of faceted glass from an old chandelier. At her heart, is a miniature handmade book with coffee stained papers.

* the pendant cascade is 7.5 inches from bail to end of drop.

On the Right is 'Maia'.

'Maia' is a little more playful and a little more edgy. She is made of copper and brass wires, various Agate and Jasper stones, Garnet beads, an artisan ceramic bead, a Quartz Crystal, stained lace, fiber, paper, resin, a silver wing, brass stamping, and vintage clock and watch gears. At her heart, is a miniature handmade book with coffee stained papers.
