Description

I seem to be in a DIY mood. Here is another project I've been wanting to make for many years now ... waiting for the right wood to be made available here 😊

This sewing machine belonged to my gran. My gran taught me to sew on this very machine. When she passed there was a time when this was going to the dumpsters but I insisted on keeping it. When I was old enough to own my own place, I lugged it with me. Everywhere I went it came with me. When I could not store it, my friends helped me by having it in their place until I could come take it. I'm glad I never gave it up. This is my heirloom from my gran.

It stood in my apartment for a long time, as is, but slowly falling apart. Before it did, I took it apart and the machine part is sitting as a decor piece in my hall. For a long time I wanted to do something with the base. In my mind it was always something with pinewood. Unfortunately for the longest time I couldn't find pinewood here ... until a couple of days ago. While browsing on the internet I found a little local independent wood factory @Kerjakayu that sold pinewood.Β  They were even kind enough to let me use their tools to cut up the planks into the dimensions I wanted so that I could bring the pieces home to install.

So I'm sipping my tea, staring at my gran's sewing machine. But now, it has a new lease of life, a different purpose. I hope gran is pleased with what I did. So now I'm sipping my tea, smiling at the fruit of my labor.

What a great way to preserve her sewing machine. I never would have thought to use it like this. You did such a good thing by giving it new life.
