Description our assignment was to bake a bread (yes, bake a bread...which i did not do) and then illustrate the experience, or, our reaction to it. i've only ever baked banana bread (the best kind!) and never got a chance to actually bake a bread.
its probably better that way. i would have eaten the entire thing in one sitting.
i decided to go with an illustration for the story of 'the little red hen'...because when i think of baking i think of a country kitchen setting. farms. chickens. and i am always reminded of this story :]

brown paper doodle colored up a bit in photoshop. i know. i fail at photoshop, but its sooo much quicker to do a tiny detailed pencil drawing then blow it up and play with the colors in ps!

Nice job. It looks really good. Now I'm wishing I had some bread with me. Fresh bread.

Hey, I loved this story as a kid! And I still do now.
This illustration is superb. Somehow brown paper drawings are the best when it comes to illustrating a story.

I'm reminded of nearly the same thing whenever I cook, especially if i'm making ham or cornbread, of any other country meal.
Country cooking reminds me of mother hens, and this definitely illustrates my thoughts about it!

The Little Red Hen! Eeeeeee!
I immediatly recognized her when I saw your picture X)
Now along with Sredni Vashtar it's the second picture of your which makes me go "Eeeeeee" at the recognition of a story I like...
You really have the best references
"Eeeee" should be also said for the overall mood and cuteness of the picture...
