This one took me forever! Hiccup’s gear killed me. So I freed Toothless from the saddle and gave him the automatic tailfin, so that Hiccup could ride him like momma Valka rides Cloudjumper... like a true badass dragon lord!
I also wanted to share some thoughts about HTTYD 3 and the various theories I’m reading online.
"As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’s discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind."
Sooo. I have recently read all kinds of tragedies about this, because yeah, there are fans that want to see a ‘strong finale’; I have even found a fake soundtrack on Youtube with titles like ‘Thanks Buddy, See You In The Valhalla’. DAFUQ??? I had a heart attack! Many fans believe that Toothless is gonna die in the 3rd movie to save Hiccup. I mean, really? Do you really think Dreamworks is wishing to go as far as killing a major character, maybe their most loved creation? Gosh! It’s still a film for young audiences, just think about the mass trauma that would result. Idk, it seems pretty damn extreme and I really don’t think the Studios are willing to risk being lynched by the fandom.
The hints about Hiccup and Toothless saying goodbye and the bittersweet ending are clear enough, but still. The whole franchise, tv series, and everything related are freaking based on the wonderful relationship between Hiccup and Toothless! Breaking it up so drastically would make the very foundations of the franchise collapse, and I don’t think they want this. There has to be something else.
Then, Dean DeBlois said that Drago Bludvist will return as a more complex villain, along with a brand new villain named Grimmel and voiced by Fred Murray Abraham. I think there’s more to Drago than what we have seen in HTTYD 2.
Most importantly, a mate. A mate for Toothless. First of all, FINALLY! Our lovely black-scaled fella deserves to get the girl too. And if this is true, I think the plot for the 3rd installment will more or less pivot on the appearance of this female Night Fury: something tells me that she may play a part in Hiccup and Toothless’s separation, but also that she may somehow be related to Drago and Grimmel. So, in a few words, these characters might shake the foundations of Berk’s dragon utopia, forcing Hiccup and Toothless to separate... but not forever! At least, I hope so...
Okay, I’ve run out of hypotheses. I can’t wait. And 2019 is so far away.
In the meantime, enjoy the drawing, and let me hear your ideas if you wish.
