Here is an entry for 's contest. Create a carnivore for her story.

Species : Vitiocerta (derived from the latin words of "vicious" and "lizard"
Location : Various forests
Colouration : Various earthy tones, anything from black to brown to green. Underbelly is most commonly a lighter tone, and spots and blotches of other colours are also common
Size : At its shoulder it stands about the same height as a medium to large dog (think Labrador retriever or similar). With stretched out tail, about 15 feet long (about 8 without tail)
Temperament : Very agressive

Very vicious killer, will often pounce on the prey, hold it in it's strong jaws, then whip it's head back and forth. Has a single tooth in the middle of the roof of its jaw, that is moved by a muscle. When not in use, it lies flat against the roof of the mouth as not to pierce and tear the tongue. When in use, it stands erect like normal teeth, and it used to hold the prey in place, acting as an anchor.
Often hunt in small packs of 4 or 5, preying on larger animals. Tactics often include hiding in trees and then pouncing as the prey passes below, or working as a team. One lizard will scare the prey, forcing it towards an ambush.
Very quick, and excellent at climbing.
