I am really impressed with this piece! I am especially amazed that you were able to hold off on drawing the eyes until the very last step. This blows my mind since I routinely begin by drawing the eyes...they are too tempting for me!
Great work, nonetheless! You've really captured the beauty of the animal, and I appreciate it that you shared your process.

For every medium its different, but I actually have reasoning for leaving the eyes blank till last for pastels. They smudge if you're not careful, and because the eyes should be just perfect, I don't risk muddying up the colours by smudging by leaving them to the end.
Plus, I've grown kind of fond of the way that people react to the zombie eyes.

Oh I see what you're saying. That's very clever! I will have to remember that if I do a pastel portrait.
