Speaking as someone who works with logo design almost on a daily basis - I can tell you that this (in most circumstances) could work as a logo.
Nonetheless - this is AWESOME. You did and excellent job on this and it looks great! =]

And for what it's worth (having been there myself not too long ago) Here's a friendly word of advice - from one GD to another -
Never be afraid to try new things, and encourage yourself to move outside of your comfort zone. Trust me - once you get out here into the work force, you will find yourself doing things you NEVER thought you would be doing. Oh...and if you're offered a chance at Work-Study under your advisor - take it! It's GREAT work experience and looks really good on a resume. =3
Any-who - sorry for the random "Master to Padawan" moment, but I very explicitly remember when I was where you are now - and I remember how much I could have used good advice.
Again, great job on this! It looks amazing! And good luck with your classes! What you learn there will DEFINITELY help. ;]

And what can I say? As a work-study in my 2nd year, I doubledΒ as a teacher's aid for quite a while so - some of the mentality must have rubbed off.
