This is a rather interesting take on the NIMH scenario. When most are well-known with Nicodemus' glowing eyes from the animated film, this artwork gives him less of that mysterious image, but still equally wise and sagacious personality that made him such a wonderful character. He had an air of grandfatherly care around Brisby, which allowed him to level with the audience. Brisby is a great example of a good mother to her children, as well.

Love the sorta dark storybook approach to this pictures art style! It's very interesting to see the characters depicted in such a way, yet still retain enough of the little details to have their appearances remain faithful to the original source material!
