Description Another pen study.
Trying to find new ways of applying my drawings, to expand, to evolve etc.
Also trying to overcome my fear of color. Or rather just trying to be better at using it.
I figure summer vacation is a good time for it.

this is really good. It... kind of has a message to it in my opinion. I don't know if I see this just because I've experienced it or... just.. I do lol but I see sort of like this person who lives a normal life (the white part with color) being sucked into this world of depression and starting to change and hide from the world (the black, red, and... mask type thing?) or.. vice versa. I don't know.. that probably sounded weird but... lol idk just thought I'd share that

all your stuff is boss man...do u have a tablet or is this on paper scanned into your computer?

This is inks on paper that I later scanned on the computer. I find working with a tablet on a computer to be awkward... I should learn, but I like to feel the texture of the sufrace under my pens.

Nice work I understand your fear... but at the same time, I think you will look back and see there was no need for it, one day. Have you tried suspending that fear knowing you can trash a piece if you like? Water down some acrylics or watercolors and just go nuts. Use whatever color floats your boat in an instant and have no worries. Maybe you'll see something appear in the swirls or whatever you come up with and can pull that out with pen. Whatever the case, it will become great experience

My biggest problem with color is the lack of experience with it. My drawings kinda took the shape it has right now because my main source of practice is my doodlings that I do with my pens and mechanicle pencils. Therefore they are detailed and is a collective mass of smaller parts that can be drawn in a small amount of time. Maybe I should start taking color markers or something to class... hmm...

maybe I wonder what you would come up with if you were to use instruments without such fine points that lead inevitably towards details(I have the same tendency to get pulled in to them). Big fat brushes, cloth, your hands, anything....and then the game becomes working from the larger and more general towards the more subtle and refined, where the details can have their place

I'm starting to sound like my professors'....but apparently I got something out of it, so they must have given good advice

Thanks alot. I tried to make the colors have a vague gradation, red at the top and green at the bottom. Saves me from having to think which color should go where.

I really like it. I totally feel your fear of color. I love color but am totally afraid of it. Way to try to evolve. I'm stuck in such a rut right now I barely do any artwork at all anymore.

That is a shame, not doing any artwork. Although I myself am really shifty in my desire to draw. But I seem to always come back to drawing, which is good.
