Description
Rule of Rose is a great game, eerily creepy and a great story, it's the perfect blend to keep you entertained and in love with it. (The gameplay has a few bugs, but nothing you can't handle.) If your one for the gameplay aspect, this isn't for you, but if your into the characters and the story-line, then play this, because this will tinker with your mind and keep you interested until the credits roll.Rule of Rose belongs to Atlus, not me, unfortunately, and in Japan they belong to Sony.

It's a wonder it's not more popular then it is. It's a wonderful, complex game. More people should be exposed to it.

I know! It was pretty deep. Then, it made me kinda mad, but in a way I would be mad at a child.

True. But some of those children were quite frustrating.

Yes, they were. Wendy was the one who angered me most. Such betrayal I felt! And yet such sadness for her.

Wendy I sympathized with. She loved someone she couldn't have, and in turn grew jealous which drove her own anger. Diana was also a favorite. All the girl's, in their own way, made the game excellent beyond words.

Yes they did. Diana is a favorite of mine as well, Eleanor too. Wendy, I loved absolutely, in a sad way. The game was a beautiful, tragic masterpiece.

Never has there been a game that has weaved a more tragically beautiful story, mischievous yet evil children, and a seemingly helpless hero.

Haunting Ground had two of those elements, though it lacked the evil children. Rule of Rose combined amazing elements that other games just couldn't put out.

I was gonna mention Haunting Ground too, but I don't know a lot of people who know that game either. It seems a lot of the good games are ones that need to be found.

I know what you mean. Okami is another great game that never got it's chance to sign even though it won Best Game of the Year several years back. It didn't sell enough copies, and I'm willing to bank it's one of the best games of all time along with Rule of Rose and Haunting Ground.

Yes! Okami was very unique. It had some very good ideas, but people didn't seem too taken with it. We should compile a list of good games that didn't get their due, heh.

Very creepy, great job! I'm kinda interested in playing the game (sounds like Lord of the Flies meets Silent Hill and I LOVED LotF and SH), but I heard there's a lot of disturbing content in it, like animal cruelty. :\

lycan2bite In reply to AquaCrescent [2010-03-05 12:04:48 +0000 UTC]
Animal cruelty is in the game, and it makes you squirm at multiple points. Those aside, the game alone should be played for it's amazing, twisted story. I had a hard time getting past the disturbing content myself, but if you can it's well worth the play!

Diana is definately one to cheer for, though you can't help but feel sorry for the girl's she victimizes. She rocks though, so it's well worth witnessing her cruelty.

Before i say anything else, your wording is AMAZING. Just wanted to point that out. And all of that is 100% true. She is just too amazing as a character to hate for her actions. Go Diana!

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-18 02:25:50 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. I pride myself on my wording, and I appreciate when people notice. Diana does have reasons behind her actions though, so you can sympathize. The headmaster, Mr. Hoffman, abuses her, therefore she takes out her rage on the other orphans.

No problem. And yeah I usually notice when I see someone smart and when they use words perfectly when they speak and I like to compliment them on their intllegence. And oh I think I remember that. I was watching some cutscenes, to get used to the game and stuff, and there was a lot of hints of abuse going on with Hoffman. And that's why I love Diana as a character. She doesn't cause pain just for fun. She causes it because she's going through a lot of traumatic, emotional, and physical pain herself. So she uses torture and the pain of others as her solace. Or am I wrong, because I haven't played it? But anyways, Diana is still, no matter what, very strong, in the ways of her mind.

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-18 11:45:58 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. You're very right, despite not having played the game. Diana turns her own pain into anger towards the other girls, and abuses them to ease her own suffering. Pity she just didn't find a heavy object to beat Hoffman's brain's out with, I would have cheered for her more through the game.

Yay! Lolz I like to figure characters out so I can understand exactly why they're doing what they're doing. Diana was quite interesting. And yes I'm positive that's what she is doing. And I'd love to see that! Just watching as she smashes his skull with a metal bat or something I'd cheer 100%!

So would I, though I think she'd be more careful with her planning. She'd want him to suffer as much as she did, so she'd have a carefully laid out plan of misery for him until his untimely death. She'd definately make his life a living hell until she put him out of his misery, I can tell you that much!
