Description Rule of Rose is a great game, eerily creepy and a great story, it's the perfect blend to keep you entertained and in love with it. (The gameplay has a few bugs, but nothing you can't handle.) If your one for the gameplay aspect, this isn't for you, but if your into the characters and the story-line, then play this, because this will tinker with your mind and keep you interested until the credits roll.

Rule of Rose belongs to Atlus, not me, unfortunately, and in Japan they belong to Sony.

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to ??? [2009-12-21 02:32:29 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I bet that's completely true. She'd just enjoy watching him wish for a fast death, when in truth it'll be painfully slow and torment him. Yeah, from what I've seen, what you said is what Diana would do if they all weren't so busy with Jennifer.

Poor Jennifer just becomes a toy all the orphans take their frustrations and pain out on. Meg torments her due to unrequited love from Diana, Diana tortures her due to Hoffman's abuse, and the others, well, they each have their reasons. To be accepted, to find the bird of happiness, etc.

Thats very true. Yeah from what I've seen (i watched some of the beginning gameplay and it is some sick shizz)... And wait... Meg? Is that the blonde girl that's really smart and wears glasses? And Eleanor is the one with short black hair or is it the other way around? And yeah those are some interesting reasons. I still adore their characters (except maybe Amanda. She was scary with her creepy lip stick). Even if they are completely twisted but they have their reasons, like you said.

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-23 02:05:04 +0000 UTC]

You had it right. Meg is the one with the glasses and notebook, and Eleanor is the one with the short black hair and the bird-cage.

Oh ok sorry I get confused since I haven't yet played it. And Clara is that teenager? Ok I have it all down lolz. So Meg likes Diana (or loves her) and since Diana doesn't love her back, she picks on Jennifer like everyone else?

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-23 11:43:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, at least that's my own opinion of Meg's cruelty. She could also do it to gain attention from Diana, or to impress her crush.
Clara is the oldest orphan in the orphanage, and like Diana, is abused by Hoffman.

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2009-12-24 05:56:46 +0000 UTC]

Well it seems very accurate considering that its very clearly Meg has a crush on her. And I'm sure that's something she would do considering the people she hangs out with... And okay I have to ask since there's a lot of rumors but is Clara pregnant? Cuz i saw a video and it looked like she was preparing a bed for child birth and Hoffman's really abusive so I'm just asking. And is she a part of their club?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-24 13:19:53 +0000 UTC]

I've always heard, and understood, that Clara was pregnant. But there are multiple rumors that Hoffman got a botched abortion job done or something of that nature. And no, Clare is not part of the club.

Yeah it kinda seemed true to me. And oh wow I never thought of it that way before okay... And ok she's just one of the princesses then. Because don't they all have titles? I'm not sure cuz I remember seeing a crying little girl and her title was like the tearful princes or something? And Diana was the strong willed princess?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-25 12:55:49 +0000 UTC]

That's right. Every one of them has a different title, even the boys. Although they are princes, they never deal with any of the Aristocrat's games.

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2009-12-27 11:51:52 +0000 UTC]

Ok and I have to ask but who exactly is the boy at the beginning? The crazy one that sent chills down my spine. With the story book? And ok thank you but the Aristocat Club members have special titles like Wendy is the Princess of the Rose nd Diana is the Duchess? I just want to get some stuff straight before I play it so I don't get confused. You're actually very helpful thank you for your time.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-27 13:40:56 +0000 UTC]

The boy at the beginning is actually Wendy dressed as Joshua, Gregory's dead son.
The Aristocrat club all have titles, yes. I always mess up Meg and Eleanour's titles however.
And I enjoy helping you, so don't worry about it.

Haha yeah it's the same with me and silent hill. Im a silent nerd or a hill geek there's really not much difference (if i mispelled that sorry im loopy today). But u seem pretty samrt when it comes to this game. Lots of metaphorical things in this game huh? And just asking what's up with the dolls? And exactly how old is she in the game most people say she's still a child and others say everything is a hallucination.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-29 15:15:14 +0000 UTC]

Dolls are metaphorical as well. Standing mostly for the girls, but even events at time or ideas. But Jennifer is really 17 or 19 (I never remember which), and is remembering her time at Rose Garden Orphanage. You play as her in reality, while she's really reliving childhood memories. You see that when she slaps Wendy before the final chapter, where the screen flickers and she's small again.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2009-12-30 08:32:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh ok because I never understood the dolls. And just sayin I am going to get Rule of Rose in a few days I am super uber excited!!! And ohhh... So she's just remembering everything? But why is it trauma from how they were all killed by that guy? And I also need to know... Is there like two settings? I saw that airship-like thingy as a setting and the orphanage so I'm confused.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2009-12-30 13:44:18 +0000 UTC]

There are two settings, but the airship is actually just the children imagining themselves on an airship. It's still the orphanage, and you can see how it resembles the orphanage in various ways.

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-02 10:15:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh so it's just another figment of their imagination. And yeah it seemed to look kind of like the orphanage but it was still confusing. Thanks. And what's the story with Brown (the dog. If thats his name.) I've been hearing he was killed when he was a puppy and him as an adult and following Jennifer around was imaginary too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-03 15:45:59 +0000 UTC]

I believe he was killed as a puppy, and it's Jennifer's way of remembering him as an adult dog through her imaginary time back in the orphanage. She actually betrayed Brown, and had a hand in his death with the other orphans. You learn that in the chapter before the last, I believe.
But he was found as a puppy by Jennifer, and she kept him in this old shed down the road. Wendy grew jealous, and the orphans were just plain cruel so his death was soon-in-coming upon his discovery.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I just finished Rule of Rose today and got the good ending. I unintentionally gave the gun away. But anyways I found that it was sooooo awesome... And wait didnt Jennifer choose for Brown to die instead of herself? So thats how she betrayed him? And the good ending... Whats that about? Was she 'locking away her memories' so to speak? And I'm still confuzzled about the Hoffman situation (saw that diana scene). I went around the orphanage in the once upon a time chapter and it said he was pretending to be someone he wasnt?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-12 23:38:03 +0000 UTC]

Sometimes I wonder about the Once Upon a Time chapter, it was meant to tie up loose ends, but served to confuse further.
And yes, I believe Jennifer did choose for Brown to die instead of herself. But she was only a child, and no child wants to die. Thus she sacrificed her best friend to the wicked orphans.
She was locking away her memories, it was like she had amnesia or something. They were so horrible she couldn't bear them.

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-13 00:45:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I also hated how scary that chapter was. It was supposed to sound and look peaceful but it didn't to me. And I was expecting to know what was in that mysterious sick bay drawer. And yeah, I'd choose that too. It might sound selfish but I know I'm scared to die. So yeah Jennifer felt the same way. And yeah I was thinking that but wasn't sure. Was it PTSD?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-13 00:52:32 +0000 UTC]

The mysterious sick-bay drawer is believed to contain Mr. Hoffman and Clara's aborted child. At least that's what I thought, and have read from other sources. So, who knows in reality?
Jennifer made a choice any child would make. That's what makes the game so realistic, the fact that children are that cruel, and that vicious. They can be. When left alone to their own devices, can turn into little monsters when in reality only want acceptance and love, respect.

Oh thanks. Anyways, about the door at the top of the rear stairway that only opens in one chapter, what's in it? I heard there were just piles of leaves. Is that true? Cuz I haven't played through Rule of Rose more than once, and I've missed a lot, sadly.

I could never make the door open for me, to be honest. I tried the Rule of Rose mysteries site for that one. I've played many times, yet have yet to discover every wonderful secret the game has to offer. My only advice would be to search the web, or play (like me) until you actually figure it out.

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-15 00:34:04 +0000 UTC]

Really? I heard it opened during the funeral chapter while the imps are trying to kill you. Of course, I'm too much of a chicken. But during my second playthrough I'll try it. And yeah I love the mystery sites but I like to figure stuff out for myself. And since I have the Master Umbrella I won't have to worry about the imps killing me.

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-15 11:50:05 +0000 UTC]

Definately. But Master Tuna's fun! XD. In some of the serious scenes with Diana, it is. You're a giant fish and she's telling you how worthless you are!

Dang I can't wait now!! I love replaying games. And wee I started mah fanfic! And anyways do you like Jennifer as a character? She kinda annoyed me until she pimp slapped Wendy. That was a golden moment for me. And do you think Sir zpeter is about Hoffman? That's what I heard.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-17 14:43:21 +0000 UTC]

Yay fanfic! I enjoyed Jennifer as a character. I liked her with Wendy, or with Diana. Either are good couples in my view-point. Meg was the one who annoyed me the most in the game, to be quite honest.
I love when she slapped Wendy though! She just...she just started to shine as a character at that moment.
I do not think Sir Peter is about Hoffman. I don't know why, I just really don't.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-18 05:16:23 +0000 UTC]

Lolz. And yeah the reason I don't think I enjoyed having Jennifer as the main character was because I was also playing Silent Hill 3 and well... Jennifer next to Heather... It makes Jennifer look bad. XD And omg you're so right. Meg was so clingy and her voice was... SOOOO ANNOYING! God, I would've torn her notebook up too... But yeah those couples are in my fave Yuri list. And yeah the second she gave Wendy the pimp hand I started thinking she was badass too. And lolz yeah it seemed far fetched. I got the idea off of ruleofrosemysteries.com XD then there's ideas Gregory is a cannibal... But I'm not sure if I agree or not cuz I'm still only on my snd playthrough haha

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-18 22:02:10 +0000 UTC]

I don't think Gregory was a cannibal. I just think he was a twisted man, depressed after the death of his son.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-23 07:20:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I felt bad for Gregory. I teared up at the end of the game. It was sooooo sad...Honestly if I lost a child, I'd go super killer too. And not to mention how that bitch Wendy treated him at the end of the game. Disturbing stuff. But I'd say the most disturbing scene for me was the onion bag, cuz I HATE bugs...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-23 14:02:40 +0000 UTC]

The most disturbing for me was the Hoffman battle. Just the way he came out and you couldn't really see him in the darkness, and he was yelling and screaming. Clara/Mermaid boss battle was also quite screamworthy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-25 02:08:25 +0000 UTC]

Omg I remember the Hoffman battle. DX God you're right that was a sick scene. Hoffman was a creepy boss and the way he died (landing and breaking his legs) made my kneecaps hurt... And yeah the Clara battle was horrible. The vomit thing was twisted and reiminded me of that dude from Mortal Kombat. But the beginning and ending scenes of the fight were pretty scary.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-25 02:14:23 +0000 UTC]

Definately. The boss battles were what always got me, how the game seemed to twist the adult figures into terrifying creatures. I do admit though, I wanted a Diana boss fight! XDD. I probably would have ran screaming if she tried to attack me though, LOL.

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-26 06:20:26 +0000 UTC]

Hecks yeah I mean the only old-like person they didn't turn into a boss fight was Martha. And thank jesus for that. And O.M.G... That would've been the most epic boss battle ever!!! I'd love that. And omg me too she's intimidating enough she doesn't need to be all morphed and twisted XD lolz but honestly thats a pimpin idea. No matter how amazingly cool I think Diana is, she needs a good monster whoopi with the master umbrella once in a while. JKJK

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-26 12:00:15 +0000 UTC]

Right! But Meg as a boss, that would have been a fight I would have laughed my way through. Even if she was deformed and dangerous, kicking her ass would have given me great pleasure! At the end, upon defeat, Diana could walk in, uncaringly step over Meg, then tell you your worthless again. Then you just pimp-slap her with the master umbrella and leave the room with Brown.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-27 03:46:13 +0000 UTC]

OMG I would've laughed too. Wait, as a monster, would she still have her glasses? XD But yeah Meg's voice makes my ears bleed and she has a strange resembalnce to a dog when she curtsies and looks up at you in the Stray Dog and Lying Princess chapter. Meg's annoying. And yeah I would've enjoyed beating her too. And omg haha that would've been one of the most hilarious scenes in the game. (Honestly, my memory isn't too clear but at the moment the funniest moment in RoR for me was when Jennifer gave Wendy the pimp hand.) And just asking, but who's your favorite guy character? Mine would be Gregory (he's so beautiful) and Nicholas.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-27 11:55:35 +0000 UTC]

Seeing as there are so few male characters, I'd have to go with Gregory. Just cause he's insane and rocks. Always root for the fruitcake, he'll kill all the others in the end!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-29 06:22:03 +0000 UTC]

Lolz so true there were very few male characters. But hey that's pretty original for a game. Lolz. And yeah Gregory rocks. And yeah he sooo owned them all in the end. And honestly, I always liked Gregory. From the second the game started I liked him. Mostly cuz his voice was epic but then I started adoring his actual character. XD And the guys I hated the most were... Hoffman and Xavier. I don't know why, but Xavier's voice always got on my nerves. And well, Hoffman is always hated so there's nothin that can change that jerkwad... But yes I might be one of the few people that liked Nicholas, just because... Thomas gave me nightmares though... And I thought Susan was a guy at first...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-29 11:54:39 +0000 UTC]

Hoffman was a dirty old man. He, like Meg, was a character you loved to hate. You had nightmares from the game? I don't think I did. LOL.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SILENT-HILL-SIAM In reply to lycan2bite [2010-01-30 00:36:38 +0000 UTC]

Lolz yes he was! And oh god Meg was just as irritating. Jesus, I wanted Jennifer to backhand her too. And yeah but it was only from Thomas and oddly enough Jennifer. They both freaked me out (jennifer as a kid). But I kinda thought the imps were quite adorable. Like the rat and normal imps were sooo cute! But the pig, goat, fish, and bird ones irritated me beyond belief... Oh and the bunny ones were annoying too, especially in the dormitory in The Funeral chapter...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lycan2bite In reply to SILENT-HILL-SIAM [2010-01-30 00:38:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. The Imps could put a major damper on gameplay. Jennifer could get some wicked weapons, she just couldn't wield them worth a damn. Makes you want to reach through the TV screen, shake her, and demand to know why she can't chill out and whack an Imp directly.
