A made-up creature of mine, I love him to pieces. The animal is called a veresti (veh-reh-stee) and takes the place of horses in the fantasy saga.

It's a good idea to crop such large images down to a more focused area. This allows your viewers to more easily see the details in you work.
The focus points of this sketch are the veresti's shoulder, mouth, and that dark area on the saddle. Adding some contrast or darker areas to the rider will help the character fit into the same world as the mount and prevent them from fading into the background.
Anatomy wise, I love this creature's design. Paw-like feet and the strong tail would make this creature incredibly balanced. The veresti's fluff makes it look like it's built for frigid mountains.
You did fantastic on the shading and form capture of the Veresti. Good detail and the saddle and tack. The technique on the mane is a joy to look at.
