Description
Another open species!! This time, I wanted to make something that can be seen as scary, but is actually kinda cute and shy! So, we have the Alimododon, Alimodo for short! Firstly, I'll talk about what inspired the design, and then I'll talk about how it would act if it was real!
For the design, the big inspiration from real life was the komodo dragon, which can kinda be seen in the structure of the body, and obviously the name. The next inspiration was the big dragon/monster form that appears near the end of the movie Nimona, where Nimona cracks and turns into a monster that I personally find adorable! Then, possibly the most obvious inspo, the kora from CoS!
If this was real, it would be found in swamps and would be seen as a dangerous creature that is rumoured to lurk at night and make wandering explorers disappear into the darkness, when in reality no one's properly seen it as it tries it's best to hide in the murky water of the swamps. It's very shy and cautious, and will run at the sound of a twig snapping. Its also REALLY afraid of small things, which is why there's the drawing with the Rotirr in the corner! Despite looking deadly and scary, it is actually a herbivore, and feeds on bushes and plants in the swamp. It's very weak, with it's skin being very fragile and easily able to scar. For self defence, they have evolved to eat certain plants that make their saliva toxic, but not deadly.
I love this creature, tho I think there's a lot lacking in it's design. I might come back to it one day, but for now, here's the Alimodo!
