Now a cat I have something to talk about! The underrated, missed-potential guy himself, Dustpelt! I love this guy, he's in my top 10 favourite cats in the series and I am mad at how much potential he had in small changes to the story. First tho, I will say that the start of his relationship with Ferncloud is not okay, and I wish that the writers would retcon it, but I doubt it will ever happen. Apart from that tho, he's this cat who starts off as a bully alongside Sandpaw, and is close to Tigerclaw's gang. He then turns against them when he finds out Tigerclaw killed his past mentor, and becomes the code-following guy we all know. From what I remember, there is no development on his change in personality and morals, which I find is a missed opportunity for a mini side plot. I have already went through this in a drawing I did a while ago, but basically he had a crush on Sandpaw when they were apprentices, and got jealous when she got close to Fireheart. So, he continues to bully him in the hopes that Sandstorm will remember their time as bullies, and to hold onto his childhood. One day he tries to get her involved in the bullying, to which she snaps and tells him to grow up. This brings him to reality, and makes him realise that he's a warrior acting like a kit, and so decides to try and prove that he has matured. He turns more to Tigerclaw's group, as he looks up to them. That is until Tigerclaw is outed, and Dustpelt turns his back on Tigerclaw. This would then cause him to hold on closely to the code, to try to prove to both his clan and himself that he isn't like Tigerclaw, and that he is a good warrior. This results in his friendship with Sandstorm building back up, as well as a newfound respect for Fireheart and how far he's come. When Fireheart then becomes leader, Dustpelt is impressed by him, and decides to become one of his loyalist warriors.
Anyways, for the design I just used an older design and made his look more tired and mature.
