An uncle was a pilot and flew one of those in WWII. I don't know the particulars, as he did not talk about it, but he ended up as a German POW and lived through it. As a side, my dad was a navigator on a B-24 "Liberator." (Both have been gone for many years)

Ah, military aviators in the family line.
Same here, the ones who fought in our 2 separate wars against the Russians during WW2 didn't talk about it afterwards. Soon the last veterans still alive will be gone. In my family they've been gone for decades.
