My being a life-long gamer-geek I know the proper game terminology for these spells.

I play Star Wars Saga Edition with friends at a local store's gameroom every other Sunday. Good old-fashioned Pencil and Paper gaming.
I've been playing Mass Effect and ME2 lately. I also picked up the Platinum Edition of Neverwinter Nights 2 recently and been enjoying crafting weird adventure parties - the Storms of Zehir expansion lets you create a full party of four and then hire some additional NPC help. My only beef with the game is that I get tired of having most of my characters running around in identical Chain Shirts every time.
I've always been more of a Fantasy fan than Sci Fi, except for Star Wars, which everyone calls "Science Fantasy" because of the "Long ago, and in a Galaxy far away." thing as well as some of the irrational science. I really like the idea that it's a big galaxy, and we aren't alone, and some of those weird-looking folks make good friends.

I've played both ME and ME 2. Great and enjoyable games. Dragon Age, Assassins Creed, Civilization V and Shogun 2 Total War are others I've enjoyed this year.
Witcher 2 is great too, but it is a strange mix of excellence and annoying unnecessary "design flaws" at times.
Other way around for me, I love both fantasy and scifi, but scifi is the favorite Books have let my mind and imagination to travel and "see" a glimpse of hundreds of worlds, creatures and civilizations

I've been a huge fan of mythology and legend for many years, so the fantasy stuff lets me feel like I'm part of that "history."
I've been considering getting Assassin's Creed, the demo's and stuff all look cool. But I'm not a very good button-masher and I worry about how intense that might be. I've got to reinstall DragonAge: Origins and pick up more of the DLCs. I really want to find out what happens to Morigan.
Mainly though I'm waiting to hear that the Star Wars The Old Republic MMO is up and running. But I can't decide if I'm going to play a Jedi Guardian or a Jedi Consular.

I think I've found a little something to leave next to the girdle of masculinity/feminity

In most parts of the world that girdle is still very tight. Culture and tradition changes so much slower than individuals

I hate to admit this, but I was making a D&D reference, years ago a DM left this girdle with a huge gold buckle that had a thunderbolt on it lying in one the chambers in his fortress. We had a power gamer in our group and he thought it was a girdle of storm giant strength, he grabbed it and put it on. Turned out that the girdle changed the wearer to the opposite gender. In this case, it changed a six foot six male paladin in full plate armour into a five foot woman. hilarity ensued, but I do agree with you about culture and tradition

Aah, ok, I thought you were referring to gender roles
Fantasy armors tend to be funny, especially female ones. They often seem to be rather more revealing than protective. Not that I mind...
