One of my favourites of yours.
Do such hyperrealism paintings sell well in general?

It was my father's knife. A simple man who lived a simple life.

Very striking use of composition and colour. Immediately the impact of the image appears very luring - the vibrancy of the image pops out extremely imminently.
I feel as if the background really does wonders for this piece to effectively portray focus and attention.
The use of contrast really heightens the look of the image; the relatively dark background works very nicely to highlight the lighter objects, particularly with the strong light that outlines many of such forms.
However, I feel as if the background not only reinforces the impact of the objects in terms of contrast, however, but also with the use of colour in itself.
The lighter tints of the wall around the area of the objects really portrays that sense of brightness and focus; this much lighter surface attracts so much attention to what is a sort of line of focal points, acting almost like a backlight.
The way this brightness also is quickly cut off by the table eventually falling into complete darkness sharply distinguishes this very striking focal composition.
Of course, the sheer impact of the dead-straight horizontal bench and perspective uses the background's brightness in such a powerful way, directly conveying the objects very distinctly.
I feel as if this sharpness is really what makes this image so amazing - the focus is so direct, so nicely conveyed, so sharp.
Of course, the focus from the background is not put to waste whatsoever with the immensely striking look of the objects.
The use of light really reinforces the dynamic of the objects; again, harking back to the contrast, the extremely powerful beams of light that strike the objects really distinguish their forms very clearly, particularly when it comes to the knife and onion.
This sharpness works so nicely with the similarly sharp, direct perspective and composition of the bench, the objects taking up the attention very effectively.
In addition to this, the colour composition of the objects is also impeccable and works well with their positioning on that horizontal line.
The very powerful vibrancy of the orange at first appears extremely engaging and almost overpowering; yet, it is balanced out very nicely by the cluster of objects to the right with that little but powerful touch of red in the cherries.
This even distribution of vibrancy really levels out the brilliant, striking nature of it, further heightening the dynamic of the image in addition to the light, particularly with the contrasting lack of vibrancy in the background.
The interesting horizon line varies up this striking apparel even more, in particular the position of the knife extremely powerful.
The way that knife just is implanted so steeply is immensely striking, contrasting the otherwise rather flat, round forms of the objects around it. In combination with the light, it's just amazing and adds that very dynamic sense of harshness and impact to the image, making it more than just a lovely scene.
Overall, in the background, again; simply stunning use of the contrast, brightness, dead-straight perspective and horizontal line to really draw attention to the focal points of the image. The background in this piece is truly a background, dedicated to glorifying the focus of the image.
However, of course, the main objects themselves are treated to an extraordinarily stunning, balanced vibrancy, a brilliant lighting scheme to compliment this and an interesting composition, sharpening up themselves to use and heighten the attention received from the background.
And, of course, your technique is insane; I honestly thought this piece was photographed and I still find it unbelievably masterful in execution.
Again, fantastic dynamic, beautiful composition and stunning colour.
Awesome work!
